A Comparative Study of Recombination Mechanisms and Long‐Term Outdoor Degradation in Perovskite Solar Cells and Modules Including Self‐Assembled Monolayers

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 9, Issue 13, July 2025.
This study compares inverted perovskite solar cells with and without a Me‐PACz self‐assembled monolayer (SAM) on NiOx. SAM integration improves energy level alignment between perovskite and NiOx, enhancing open‐circuit voltage . Temperature‐dependent DC and AC characterization reveals that SAM incorporation reduces interfacial recombination.

Performance Evaluation of Radiation Sensors for the Solar Energy Sector

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 2017
Rotating Shadowband Irradiometers (RSI) and SPN1 Sunshine Pyranometers allow determining the diffuse and direct components of solar radiation without sun trackers; they can be deployed in networks for continuous field operation with modest maintenance ...

How Connected Cars Could Capture Cloud Dynamics for Solar Forecasting—Evidence from Two Simulation Scenarios

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 9, Issue 1, January 2025.
This work proposes to use sensor networks comprised of connected vehicles with light sensors for cloud shadow velocity and direction estimation. Spatiotemporal conditions are investigated in a simulative environment with a traffic simulation representing cars, a fractal cloud shadow model moving with defined velocities and directions as physical ...

Ramp Rate Metric Suitable for Solar Forecasting

open access: yesSolar RRL, Volume 8, Issue 24, December 2024.
Solar irradiance forecasting is crucial for integrating solar power, but common metrics like root‐mean‐square error fail to assess ramp events. This article introduces a new ramp rate metric for forecasting, evaluated through a case study on ramp rate mitigation in PV systems.

Accuracy of daily extreme air temperatures under natural variations in thermometer screen ventilation

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2024.
Naturally ventilated thermometers in Stevenson screens or similar shelters provide the mainstay of surface air temperature data. These work well, except, occasionally, at low wind speeds. This can affect the daily minimum and, rarely, maximum temperatures, which are important in meteorology and climatology.

Remote sunfall monitor: A concept [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Monitor is proposed as spectral monitor system designed to record digital data simultaneously from two types of sensors, mounted on both stationary assembly and tracking assembly. Both direct and total values of solar radiation are recorded.
