Performance of reproductive system of Dichelops melacanthus (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) subjected to buprofezin and pyriproxyfen: morphological analysis of ovarioles and testes

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2017
The use of insecticides known as insect growth regulators, which are considered more selective to natural enemies, may be an alternative to integrated pest management of stink bugs of the main crops in Brazil.

Ruthenium‐Katalysierte ortho‐Arylierung von Benzoesäuren mit Arylthianthreniumsalzen

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 26, June 24, 2025.

Sensitivity ofDaphnia carinataSensu Lato to the Insect Growth Regulator, Pyriproxyfen

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 1996
This paper reports the sensitivity of Daphnia carinata sensu lato to pyriproxyfen, a promising chironomid control agent. Neonates exposed to pyriproxyfen in acute toxicity trials produced 48-hr LC50 of 0.08 ppm, eight times the concentration known to control the emergence of nuisance chironomids.

Hemoglobin Levels Modulate Nitrite Toxicity to Daphnia magna

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Nitrogenous compounds enter the environment through various anthropogenic sources. Among these are nitrate (NO3 −) and nitrite (NO2 −) which can oxidize the heme moiety of hemoglobin and reduce the oxygen-carrying capacity of the molecule resulting in ...

Ruthenium Catalyzed Ortho‐Arylation Reaction of Benzoic Acids with Arylthianthrenium Salts

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 64, Issue 26, June 24, 2025.
A catalytic ortho‐arylation method has been developed to convert arylthianthrenium salts into carboxylate‐functionalized biaryls, which can be removed in situ or used for further derivatization. This reaction is broadly applicable to (hetero)arenecarboxylic acids, with excellent functional group compatibility and orthogonality to cross‐couplings ...

Resistance of Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) Populations to Deltamethrin, Permethrin, and Temephos in Cambodia. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Dengue fever is a major public health concern, including 185,000 annual cases in Cambodia. Aedes aegypti is the primary vector for dengue transmission and is targeted with insecticide treatments. This study characterized the insecticide resistance status

What is the potential for artificial selection of insect biological control traits? A systematic review of their genetic variation, heritability, and evolvability

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 6, Page 463-497, June 2025.
Growing interest in optimizing biocontrol traits, particularly due to Nagoya Protocol constraints, necessitates understanding their heritability and genetic variation. This systematic review of 5209 studies on arthropod biocontrol agents yielded 94 relevant articles, with 42 providing heritability values.

Use of pyriproxyfen in control of Aedes mosquitoes: A systematic review

open access: yesPLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2020
Dengue is the most rapidly spreading arboviral disease in the world. The current lack of fully protective vaccines and clinical therapeutics creates an urgent need to identify more effective means of controlling Aedes mosquitos, principally Aedes aegypti, as the main vector of dengue.
