A Review on the Energy Storage Mechanisms of Transition Metal Sulfide and Selenide Cathode Materials for Non‐Aqueous Aluminum Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Herein is reviewed the current state of research on transition metal sulfides and selenides (TMSs/TMSes) used as cathode materials for rechargeable aluminum batteries (RABs). The three types of charge storage mechanisms encountered in these materials, as well as contradictions found in the literature, and future research pathways are discussed ...

Harnessing the Biological Responses Induced by Nanomaterials for Enhanced Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
Nanomaterial (NM)‐induced toxicity can be strategically repurposed for cancer therapy. This review summarizes the mechanism by which NMs selectively activate specific cellular processes to regulate cell fate independently. We also discussed how NMs‐induced biological responses can be leveraged as therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment.

The lower jaw of Devonian ray‐finned fishes (Actinopterygii): Anatomy, relationships, and functional morphology

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Actinopterygii is a major extant vertebrate group, but limited data are available for its earliest members. Here we investigate the morphology of Devonian actinopterygians, focusing on the lower jaw. We use X‐ray computed tomography (XCT) to provide comprehensive descriptions of the mandibles of 19 species, which span the whole of the Devonian

Comparison Analysis of Coal Biodesulfurization and Coal’s Pyrite Bioleaching with Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans (A. ferrooxidans) was applied in coal biodesulfurization and coal’s pyrite bioleaching. The result showed that A. ferrooxidans had significantly promoted the biodesulfurization of coal and bioleaching of coal’s pyrite ...

The effect of adsorbed lipid on pyrite oxidation under biotic conditions

open access: yesGeochemical Transactions, 2006
The chemolithoautotrophic bacterium, Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans, commonly occurs in acid mine drainage (AMD) environments where it is responsible for catalyzing the oxidation of pyrite and concomitant development of acidic conditions.

Role of montmorillonite, kaolinite or illite on pyrite flotation: Differences in clay behavior based on their structures.

open access: yesLangmuir, 2020
It is widely acknowledged that clay minerals have detrimental effects on the process of flotation, but the mechanisms involved are still not fully understood.

Histovariability and fossil diagenesis of Pissarrachampsa (Pseudosuchia, Notosuchia, Baurusuchidae) from the Upper Cretaceous of Southeast Brazil

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Notosuchians were key components of western Gondwanan Cretaceous ecosystems in terrestrial predator niches and exhibited remarkable taxonomic and ecological diversity. Previous research has explored their physiology, metabolism, and histology, revealing varied growth patterns and life history strategies.

Application of EPMA to Study the Characteristics of Gold-bearing Minerals in the Zhaojiazhuang Gold Deposit in Longnan, Gansu Province

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2018
BACKGROUND Microscopy and Electron Microprobe are the main methods for the study of gold-bearing minerals. Using these methods, the content and morphology of gold-bearing minerals and their spatial relationship with other minerals were studied in the ...

Triple oxygen isotope insight into terrestrial pyrite oxidation

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2020
Significance Pyrite is oxidized during weathering to form dissolved sulfate that is carried to the ocean by rivers. This process is thought to incorporate atmospheric O2-derived oxygen; geologically preserved sulfate has thus been proposed to directly ...
