Electronic and optical properties of FeSe2 polymorphs: solar cell absorber [PDF]
Electronic and optical properties of semiconducting FeSe2 polymorphs (marcasite and pyrite) were evaluated using density functional theory with norm-conserving pseudopotential. Marcasite and pyrite of FeSe2 show indirect band gaps of 0.86 eV and 0.67 eV respectively.

1 min synthesis of phase pure nanocrystalline high‐entropy sulfides for efficient water electrolysis
High‐entropy sulphide spinels are synthesized with up to 8 different metal cations by an extremely short synthesis time of only 1 min and temperature of only 200–230°C. We further demonstrate the activity of the obtained nanosheets for both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER).

The mechanism of ultrasound oxidation effect on the pyrite for refractory gold ore pretreatment
The effect of ultrasonic cavitation on the oxidation of the crystal pyrite in deionized water has been discussed. The effect of solution alkalinity, ultrasonic power and temperature on the surface morphology of pyrite and the chemical forms of sulfur and

Decomposition of Iron Pyrites [PDF]
THE “curious phenomenon” described by Mr. Frederic Case (NATURE, vol. xi. p. 249) is by no means an uncommon one. It is due to oxidation, and the conversion of a portion of the pyrites into soluble sulphate of iron. This decomposition is much aided by the presence of moisture; it is very doubtful whether it would occur at all in a dry atmosphere, and I

Lunar ore geology and feasibility of ore mineral detection using a far-IR spectrometer [PDF]
Lunar sulfides and oxides are a significant source of noble and base metals and will be vital for future human colonies' self-sustainability. Sulfide detection (pyrite and troilite) applies to many technological fields and use cases, for example, as a raw material source (available in situ on the Lunar surface) for new solar panel production methods ...

Co‐combustion of coal and biomass waste in pilot‐scale for energy use
Abstract The use of biomass in co‐combustion systems using fluidized bed technology is considered a viable alternative to reduce the emission of pollutants. The herein study presents an experimental analysis to determine the technical feasibility of using run‐of‐mine (ROM) coal and its waste combined with biomass in a combustor of bubbling fluidized ...
