Universal geometric frustration in pyrochlores [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
The family of pyrochlore complex oxides includes many materials of fundamental or practical interest, such as spin ices and dielectrics. Trump et al. show that flexibility of the pyrochlores’ structure leads to local displacements that explain some of ...

Effect of Preparation Method and Ni2+ Substitution on the Structural, Thermal, and Optical Properties of Nanocrystalline Lanthanum Zirconate Pyrochlore

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
In order to establish the effective application of materials in a particular area, it is important to first investigate the physical and chemical properties, such as the crystallinity, structure, and the optical and surface properties.

Stepwise Reduction of Ruthenium and Growth of Magnetic Structure During Hydrothermal Crystallisation of SrRu2O6 from KRuO4. [PDF]

open access: yesAngew Chem Int Ed Engl
In situ neutron powder diffraction data collected while heating the Ru(VII) reagent KRuO4 in the presence of aqueous Sr2+ reveal the crystallisation of a Ru(VI) oxyhydroxide before the expected Ru(V) oxide; at the same time evolution of antiferromagnetism in the final SrRu2O6 product follows the growth of its crystal structure.

Frustrated ferroelectricity in niobate pyrochlores [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2008
The crystal structures of the A2B2O7-x Niobium-based pyrochlores Y2(Nb0.86Y0.14)2O6.91, CaYNb2O7, and Y2NbTiO7 are reported, determined by powder neutron diffraction. These compounds represent the first observation of B-site displacements in the pyrochlore structure: the B-site ions are found to be displaced from the ideal pyrochlore positions ...

Hydrothermal synthesis, characterization and catalytic performance of La3+ and Sm3+ - doped Bi2Mn2O7 nanocatalysts for Biginelli reactions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nanostructures, 2019
La3+ and Sm3+ - doped Bi2Mn2O7 nanocatalysts were synthesized in 1 M NaOH aqueous solution, via a stoichiometric 1:1 Bi:Mn molar ratio hydrothermal method at 180 °C for 48 h. Bi(NO3)3, MnO2, La(NO3)3 and Sm2O3 were used as raw materials.

Electrical and catalytic properties of some oxides with the fluorite or pyrochlore structure: Part 2: Catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The catalytic properties of mixed oxides with the fluorite or pyrochlore structure were investigated using CO oxidation. The presence of ions with a variable valence state, the size of the ions and especially the extent of pyrochlore ordering affect ...

Semi-Empirical Predictions for Hardness of Rare Earth Pyrochlores; High-Permittivity Dielectrics and Thermal Barrier Coating Materials

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics, 2023
Herein, we have formulated a simplistic semi-empirical model for Vicker’s hardness of rare earth based pyrochlore compounds. We have considered the  structured 97 pyrochlore compounds for Vicker’s hardness calculations.
