High-Pressure Routes to New Pyrochlores and Novel Magnetism

open access: yesInorganics, 2019
The pyrochlore structure (A2B2O7) has been an object of consistent study by materials scientists largely due to the stability of the cubic lattice with respect to a wide variety of chemical species on the A or B sites.

Superconducting properties of the pyrochlore oxide Cd2Re2O7

open access: yes, 2001
We report the superconducting properties of the pyrochlore oxide Cd2Re2O7. The bulk superconducting transition temperature Tc is about 1.0 K, and the upper critical field Hc2 determined by the measurement of specific heat under magnetic fields is 0.29 T.

High‐Efficiency CO2 Electrolysis Enabled by Interface‐Engineered Composite Electrolytes in Ni‐Based SOEC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study addresses the critical issue of delamination between YSZ and GDC electrolytes in SOECs, which is caused by Thermal deformation disparity. A novel YSZ‐GDC composite interlayer, fabricated using a simple dip‐coating method, is introduced to solve this problem. This layer effectively suppresses delamination by mitigating thermal stress.

Hierarchical Embedded Sphere Model: An Interpretable ML‐Guided Multiscale Descriptor Engineering Decodes OER Activity on TM@MO2 Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hierarchical Embedded Sphere Model combines DFT and interpretable machine learning to decode catalytic activity on TM‐doped MO2. It disentangles global electronic, active‐site, and local coordination effects, revealing two activation mechanisms: dopant‐driven (Rh@MO2) and coordination‐mediated (Fe@ZrO2).

Innovative Approach to Hydrogen Purification: A Review on the Role of Metal Hydrides

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Metal hydrides, renowned for their unique hydrogen bonding capabilities, have emerged as pivotal materials in the energy sector, particularly for hydrogen storage and purification applications. Their ability to store hydrogen reversibly under moderate conditions has positioned them at the forefront in hydrogen‐based energy systems. This review

Stuffed rare earth pyrochlore solid solutions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Solid State Chemistry, 2006
Synthesis and crystal structures are described for the compounds Ln2(Ti2-xLnx)O7-x/2, where Ln = Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, and x ranges from 0 to 0.67. Rietveld refinements on X-ray powder diffraction data indicate that in Tb and Dy titanate pyrochlores, extra Ln3+ cations mix mainly on the Ti4+ site with little disorder on the original Ln3+ site ...

Magnetic ground state of pyrochlore oxides close to metal-insulator boundary probed by muon spin rotation

open access: yes, 2010
Magnetism of ruthernium pyrochlore oxides A2Ru2O7 (A = Hg, Cd, Ca), whose electronic properties within a localized ion picture are characterized by non-degenerate t2g orbitals (Ru5+, 4d3) and thereby subject to geometrical frustration, has been ...

Dual‐Phase In Situ Symbiosis Structures for Ultrahigh Capacitive Energy Storage

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A dual‐phase in situ symbiosis structure designed by introducing a linear‐like pyrochlore phase (P phase) into the ferroelectric Aurivillius phase (A phase) and precisely controlling its proportion provides a new strategy for optimizing dielectric energy storage.

Quantum spin ices and topological phases from dipolar-octupolar doublets on the pyrochlore lattice

open access: yes, 2014
We consider a class of d- and f-electron systems in which dipolar-octupolar Kramers doublets arise on the sites of the pyrochlore lattice. For such doublets, two components of the pseudospin transform like a magnetic dipole, while the other transforms ...
