Synthesis of superconducting pyrochlore RbOs2O6

open access: yes, 2004
RbOs2O6, the third superconducting pyrochlore oxide (known so far), has been synthesized by encapsulation and by high pressure techniques. Suitable post chemical treatment of the as-prepared sample allowed us to eliminate the impurity phases.

Evidence for a dynamical ground state in the frustrated pyrohafnate Tb2Hf2O7 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We report the physical properties of Tb2Hf2O7 based on ac magnetic susceptibility \chi_ac(T), dc magnetic susceptibility \chi(T), isothermal magnetization M(H), and heat capacity C_p(T) measurements combined with muon spin relaxation (\muSR) and neutron ...

Stepwise Reduction of Ruthenium and Growth of Magnetic Structure During Hydrothermal Crystallisation of SrRu2O6 from KRuO4

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 2, 9 January 2026.
In situ neutron powder diffraction data collected while heating the Ru(VII) reagent KRuO4 in the presence of aqueous Sr2+ reveal the crystallisation of a Ru(VI) oxyhydroxide before the expected Ru(V) oxide; at the same time evolution of antiferromagnetism in the final SrRu2O6 product follows the growth of its crystal structure.

Canonical magnetic insulators with isotropic magnetoelectric coupling

open access: yes, 2013
We have performed an exhaustive representation-theory-based search for the simplest structures allowing isotropic magnetoelectric coupling. We find 30 such structures, all sharing a common pattern of atomic displacements in the direction of atomic ...

Movilidad de oxígeno en conductores iónicos A2Ti2-yZryO7 (A: Y, Gd)

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio, 2004
We report a study of ionic conductivity in the series Y2Ti2-yZryO7 and Gd2Ti2-yZryO7 (0≤y≤2) obtained by mechanochemical synthesis. We present a study of oxygen ion dynamics in these materials by Impedance Spectroscopy.

Frustration under pressure: Exotic magnetism in new pyrochlore oxides

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2015
Pyrochlore structures, of chemical formula A2B2O7 (A and B are typically trivalent and tetravalent ions, respectively), have been the focus of much activity in the condensed matter community due to the ease of substitution of rare earth and transition ...

Single-crystal growth and magnetic properties of the metallic molybdate pyrochlore Sm2Mo2O7

open access: yes, 2007
We have successfully grown cm3-size single crystals of the metallic-ferromagnet Sm2Mo2O7 by the floating-zone method using an infrared-red image furnace.

Atomistic Insights into the Electrochemical Oxygen Evolution Activity of Hollandite IrO2 Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 6, 30 January 2026.
Lattice distortions at tunnel‐structured hollandite IrO2 surfaces reshape Ir‐O bonding: they weaken the σ‐bond contribution in the Ir‐*OH bond while enhancing the π contribution of the Ir‐*O bond. This orbital reorganization in hollandite surfaces stabilizes *O, facilitates the *OH → O step, and lowers the oxygen‐evolution reaction overpotential ...

Dipolar Interactions and Origin of Spin Ice in Ising Pyrochlore Magnets

open access: yes, 2000
Recent experiments suggest that the Ising pyrochlore magnets ${\rm Ho_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7}}$ and ${\rm Dy_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7}}$ display qualitative properties of the spin ice model proposed by Harris {\it et al.} \prl {\bf 79}, 2554 (1997).

Ultra‐Thin Oxide‐Based Double‐Layer Architecture Achieves Wide‐Temperature Broadband Microwave Absorption by Synergizing Lorentz Resonance and Thermionic Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 2, 9 January 2026.
Developing ultrathin wide‐temperature adaptive microwave absorption materials (MAMs) is crucial for enhancing the survival of military devices under alternating high‐temperature environment. Here, a double‐layer La2Zr2O7/Eu2Zr2O7 architecture is employed, with rare‐earth zirconates featuring with one‐eighth anion‐site vacancies, successfully achieving ...
