Relationship between the pyroelectric coefficient and the lattice dynamics of the pyroelectrics
Solid State Communications, 1983Abstract The experimental results for a temperature dependence of the pyroelectric coefficient are represented for twenty different crystals in a wide temperature range. Current theories are used for an analytical fitting of this result. It is shown that in the ferroelectrics the pyroelectric coefficient γσ is defined mainly by optical phonon modes ...

As the name implies, pyroelectricity is a first rank tensor property relating a change polarization P to a change in temperature δT. The defining relation can also be written in terms of the electric displacement D since no field is applied: . . . Pi = Di = piδT [C/m2]. . .

Piezo- and Pyroelectric Properties
1980Some polymers can be made both piezo- and pyroelectric by suitable application of a large electric field. This effect is true piezo- and pyroelectricity rather than electrostriction, conduction, electromechanical effects, or the motion of conductors in the field of space charges. Two distinct types of polymers can be piezoelectric.

The acoustoelectric transformation in single-crystal LiCoPO4 is studied. At temperatures corresponding to the paramagnetic phase, a piezoresponse to longitudinal elastic deformation parallel to the crystallographic a axis is observed. Arguments are introduced in support of identifying this compound as pyroelectric, as opposed to the generally accepted ...
