Monodisperse High‐Entropy Metal Oxide Nanoparticles Encapsulated Within 2D Porous Carbon Sheets for Enhanced Catalytic Activity in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
This study synthesizes monodisperse oxide nanoparticles with abundant ionic vacancies encapsulated in 2D porous carbon sheets via pyrolysis of a high‐entropy precursor, constructing a cross‐scale catalytic interface. It enables Li‐S batteries with a high capacity of 761 mAh g−1 at 3 C and retains 80.44% capacity after 1000 cycles at 1 C.

Hydrotreatment of fast pyrolysis oil

open access: yes, 2013

Antioxidants in Plant‐Based Food Matrices: From Structure–Activity and Degradation Kinetics to Formulation Design

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Plant‐based antioxidants are widely incorporated into foods to retard oxidative deterioration and to deliver health‐related benefits. Yet, their in‐product and in vivo performance frequently diverges from predictions based on solution‐phase chemical assays, because matrix interactions, processing history, and host metabolism reshape both ...

Investigating the Impact of Carboxylated Polystyrene Nanoplastics in the Liver Using Cell Lines and Precision‐Cut Liver Slices

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Increasing reports of plastic accumulation in human tissue have raised concerns about potential adverse health outcomes. Evidence of negative effects of nanoplastics is heterogeneous and provides limited insights into the underlying pathogenic toxicity mechanisms in humans. Methods In the present study, carboxylate‐modified

Mechanical, Thermal, and Microstructural Evaluation of Bio‐Based Polyurethane Composites Reinforced With Woven Jute and Flax

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue S2, Page S318-S335, 20 June 2026.
Graphical overview of the manufacturing and characterization of bio‐based polyurethane composites reinforced with woven jute and flax fibers produced by the VARTM process. Mechanical, thermal, and microstructural analyses reveal differences in stiffness, thermal stability, and interfacial behavior between the natural fiber composites.

From Citrus to Cymene: Understanding the Hydrothermal Conversion of Limonene

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
When life gives you limonene… Hydrothermal conversion and pyrolysis of limonene give two distinct sets of products, arising from differing reaction cascades. While p‐cymene dominates in the presence of water, indicative of an isomerisation/aromatisation pathway, pyrolysis favours cracking and loss of carbon affording an m‐xylene rich aromatic mix.

A Critical Appraisal of Pyrolysis Pretreatment in Lithium‐Ion Battery Recycling: From High‐Temperature Material Transformations to Environmental Impact

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Pyrolysis of different size fractions of waste lithium‐ion batteries reveals complex interaction among cathode materials, graphite, aluminum, and polymeric binders. Carbothermic and aluminothermic reduction pathways promote the formation of metallic species at moderate temperatures.

Urea‐Bridged Anchoring of Ultralow‐Loading Pt Nanoparticles on N‐Doped Porous Carbon for High‐Performance Oxygen Reduction Reaction

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 11, 3 June 2026.
A urea‐bridging strategy yields a low‐Pt, highly dispersed NCA1.5‐PtUrea catalyst. It exhibits a half‐wave potential of 0.88 V in 0.1 M KOH and delivers a peak power density of 582.3 mW cm‐2 in an Al‐air battery, outperforming commercial Pt/C. Platinum (Pt) remains the benchmark electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), yet its high cost ...
