Pyrolysis of Sawdust

open access: yes, 2013
Lakeland Steel Limited developed a pilot plant for biomass pyrolysis based on sawdust. The pilot plant was based on an auger screw design which was indirectly heated using a double pipe heat exchange configuration to prevent oxidation (combustion) of the

Pyrolysis char derived from waste peat for catalytic reforming of tar model compound

open access: yes, 2020
The pyrolysis char derived from solid waste peat was used in the removal of biomass tar. A laboratory dual-stage reactor was designed to obtain a cost-effective and eco-friendly tar removal approach using peat pyrolysis char-based catalyst.

The Catalytic Effect from Alkaline Elements on the Tar-Rich Coal Pyrolysis

open access: yes, 2022
Tar-rich coal has been widely concerned because of its high tar yield. Two kinds of tar-rich coals were studied by Thermogravimetric-Mass spectrometer-Fourier transform infrared (TG-MS-FTIR) to obtain the pyrolysis characteristics. TG-MS-FTIR was used to

Enhanced near-zero-CO2-emission chemicals-oriented oil production from coal with inherent CO2 recycling: Part I—PRB coal fast pyrolysis coupled with CO2/CH4 reforming

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coal Science & Technology, 2020
In this study, the Powder River Basin (PRB) coal fast pyrolysis was conducted at 700 °C in the atmosphere of syngas produced by CH4–CO2 reforming in two different patterns, including the double reactors pattern (the first reactor is for syngas production

Fuel gas production from dusty tar pyrolysis

open access: yes, 2018
Dusty tar is an undesired product obtained from a coal pyrolysis/combustion system. Thermal conversion of dusty tar into fuel gas was studied with a fixed-bed reactor.

Study of extraction and pyrolysis of Jordan tar sand

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, 1999
The extraction and pyrolysis of tar sand from Wadi Isal, Jordan have been investigated. Solvent type, mixing time, temperature, particle size and alkali concentration have been identified as important parameters for bitumen recovery. The results show that hot water extraction is ineffective since a small amount of bitumen has been obtained even at 80°C.

Kinetic Modelling of Sawdust and Beech Wood Pyrolysis in Drop Tube Reactors Using Advanced Predictive Models

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2014
Two detailed pyrolysis models are used to predict pyrolysis products of the conversion of two biomass fuels in a drop tube reactor. In both models, biomass is considered as a combination of the reference components cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin ...

Is this tar? Analytical pyrolysis to study the chemical composition of Alberto Burri's paint materials

open access: yes, 2022
Alberto Burri, among the artists of the 20th century, was known for using some of the most complex and iconic “paint” techniques of this period, which entailed using a mixture of traditional and modern materials. The chemical composition of the materials
