Comprehensive analysis of adipokinetic hormone gene evolution in Blattodea. Discovery of a novel group of decapeptides that are unique to Blaberoidea. Adipokinetic hormone receptor genes broadly reflect accepted blattodean relationships. Abstract Adipokinetic hormone (AKH) is a neuropeptide produced in the insect corpora cardiaca that plays an ...

The genomic analysis revealed a male‐biased abundance of satellite DNAs (satDNAs) in the bug Oxycarenus hyalinipennis. The complementary chromosomal analysis by fluorescence in situ hybridization supported the notion of satDNA enrichment on the Y chromosome of the species.

Complete metamorphosis and microbiota turnover in insects
Abstract The insects constitute the majority of animal diversity. Most insects are holometabolous: during complete metamorphosis their bodies are radically reorganized. This reorganization poses a significant challenge to the gut microbiota, as the gut is replaced during pupation, a process that does not occur in hemimetabolous insects.

Bioanalogues oj juvenile hormones and intestines mycoflora of some insects
The subject of this paper is the influence of JH bioanalogues on the mycoflora of intestines of three species of inscets: Dysdereus cinaulams, Pyrrhocoris apterus and Tenebrio molitor. The results are presented in tables.

Time measurement in insect photoperiodism: The role of photophase duration and light intensity
The initial stages of diapause induction - as summer gives way to autumn - involve a process of time measurement in which the duration of daylength (or nightlength) is determined by a photoperiodic 'clock' based upon the circadian system. In many insects

A review to the methods of personality measurements in wild animals 野生动物个性测量方法的综述
One of the challenges in animal personality study is finding a suitable method to measure personality. Here, we outlined three methods (traits rating, behavioral coding, and experimentation) used in animal personality measurement. We found that traits rating was commonly used to test large‐sized animals (e.g., primates), behavioral coding was conducted

ABSTRACT Acoustic and substrate‐borne vibrations are among the most widely used signalling modalities in animals. Arthropods display a staggering diversity of vibroacoustic organs generating acoustic sound and/or substrate‐borne vibrations, and are fundamental to our broader understanding of the evolution of animal signalling.

The records The species was first observed by M. Grandahl in a garden in a residential area in Sarpsborg, Viken 18. April 2020. Photos where sent to the second author who identified them as P. apterus. Later, the first author went to the locality and confirmed the presence of the species. Sexual dimorphism of diapause regulation in the hemipteran bug Pyrrhocoris apterus
Diapause is one of the major strategies for insects to prepare for and survive harsh seasons. In females, the absence of juvenile hormone (JH) is a hallmark of adult reproductive diapause, a developmental arrest, which is much less characterized in males.
