CONTESTING PYRRHONIAN CONTRASTIVISM
The Philosophical Quarterly, 2008I air three kinds of problem to which Sinnott-Armstrong's epistemological contrastivism seems to be exposed: (a) the theory gives an unplausible account of justification attributions; (b) the Pyrrhonism which results from its inability to identify relevant contrast classes bars us from epistemic responsibility; (c) contextualism does just as well as ...

AbstractThis paper attempts a reconstruction of the views of Pyrrho of Elis. Many recent commentators, most notably Richard Bett, have made Pyrrho out to a metaphysical dogmatist who thinks the world is fundamentally indeterminate. The skeptic produces equipollence methodically, by opposing arguments, propositions, or appearances, in anyway whatsoever, until he produces an equality of 'weightiness' on both sides of the conflicting views ...

Abstract This chapter displays Phenomenal Explanationism’s (PE) solution to two classic Pyrrhonian skeptical problems: the problem of the criterion and Agrippa’s Trilemma (the regress problem). With respect the problem of the criterion PE offers a non-skeptical solution that is superior to particularism, methodism, and skepticism in that

MODERATE CLASSY PYRRHONIAN MORAL SCEPTICISM
The Philosophical Quarterly, 2008This precis summarizes my book Moral Skepticisms, with emphasis on my contrastivist analysis of justified moral belief and my Pyrrhonian moral scepticism based on meta-scepticism about relevance. This complex moral epistemology escapes a common paradox facing moral philosophers.
