Pyrroline-5-carboxylic acid reductase from soybean leaves
Phytochemistry, 1976Abstract Pyrroline-5-carboxylic acid reductase was purified 40-fold from soybean leaves (Glycine max L. var Corsoy). The enzyme was fairly unstable, had a broad pH optimum, and was inactivated by heat and acid; NADH and NADPH both served as cofactors. It had a higher activity with NADH (about 4 ×) compared to NADPH, but a lower Km for NADPH.

Pyrroline-carboxylate reductase of a blowfly, Aldrichina grahami
Insect Biochemistry, 1976Pyrroline-5-carboxylate (P5A) reductase was purified about 200 fold by ammonium sulphate fractionation, DEAE-Sephadex A-50 ion exchange chromatography and Sephadex G-50 gel filtration chromatography. The partially purified enzyme reduced 1.69 μmole of P5A per min per mg protein.

Purification, characterization, and crystallization of human pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase
Protein Expression and Purification, 2006Pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase (P5CR) catalyzes the reduction of Delta1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate (P5C) to proline with concomitant oxidation of NAD(P)H to NAD(P)(+). The enzymatic cycle between P5C and proline is very important in many physiological and pathological processes.

The function of pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase in human erythrocytes
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1980Pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase, which converts pyrroline-5-carboxylate to proline, has been identified for the first time in human erythrocytes. The function of the enzyme in erythrocytes may be related to glucose metabolism through the hexosemonophosphate-pentose pathway.

Purification and characterization of rat lens pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1986delta 1-Pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase (L-proline:NAD(P)+ 5-oxidoreductase, EC 1.5.1.2) has been purified from rat lens and biochemically characterized. Purification steps included ammonium sulfate fractionation, affinity chromatography on Amicon Matrex Orange A, and gel filtration with Sephadex G-200.

Characteristics of Δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase from Drosophila melanogaster
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 19791. Biochemical properties of delta 1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase from d. melanogaster have been investigated. 2. The enzyme is stable below 4 degrees C. 3. the pH optimum of the enzyme is 5.7. It is rapidly inactivated below pH 5.4. 4. The Km values for NADPH and delta 1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate are 1.6 x 10-5 and 2.5 x 10-6 M, respectively.

Abstract Activities of Δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylic acid dehydrogenase and Δ1 pyrroline-5-carboxylic acid reductase were measured in homogenates of Fasciola and compared to the activities of these enzymes in mammalian liver. The dehydrogenase could not be detected in Fasciola. However, the activity of the worm reductase which catalyzes the final step in

L-Thiazolidine-4-carboxylate (T4C, thiaproline) is a sulfur-containing proline analog that stimulates the immune system in aging mice and inhibits urinary tract pathogens such as Escherichia coli. A constitutive NADP+-dependent T4C dehydrogenase activity was detected in the soluble fraction of a putA::Tn5 mutant of E.

Proline dehydrogenase and pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase from pumpkin cotyledons
Phytochemistry, 1975Abstract Activity of proline dehydrogenase and pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase was greatest after 5 and 7 days germination in green and etiolated cotyledons respectively of pumpkin ( Cucurbita moschata Poir. cv. Dickinson Field). The ratio of pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase to proline dehydrogenase activity was constant throughout germination ...
