Acoustic Features of Airway Protective Maneuvers as Biomarkers of Radiation‐Associated Dysphagia and Penetration/Aspiration in Head and Neck Cancer Patients

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background This study aimed at identifying acoustic features of airway protective maneuvers as biomarkers of radiation‐associated dysphagia, involving penetration/aspiration and pharyngeal residue. Methods Temporal and spectral acoustical analyses were carried out on voluntary coughs, voluntary throat clearings, and reflexive coughs.

Time to pathologic diagnosis of suspicious breast lesions: An institution‐based study in five Ethiopian hospitals

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? The World Health Organization's Global Breast Cancer Initiative set the benchmark to diagnose breast cancer within 2 months of the first contact with a health care provider. This study analyzed the diagnostic journey of women with breast symptoms at five Ethiopian hospitals. Of the 345 women interviewed who received a diagnostic workup of a

Age Estimation From Blood Test Results Using a Random Forest Model

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
From the perspective of preventive medicine, it is essential to clarify the relationship between medical examination data and aging and health problems. We successfully and accurately estimated age from clinical examination data using a random forest model. Postmenopausal women tended to have higher age estimates than premenopausal women.

A New Approach for Calculating Texture Coefficients of Different Rocks With Image Segmentation and Image Processing Techniques

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, EarlyView.
This study calculated the texture coefficient (TC) values of 20 different rock textures with magmatic, metamorphic, and sedimentary origins, which underwent image segmentation using a novel approach. ABSTRACT The texture coefficient (TC) is a critical parameter used to analyze the microstructural characteristics of rocks and predict their mechanical ...

Repeatability of Magnetic Resonance Elastography‐Derived Mechanical Parameters in Intracranial Meningiomas

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) quantifies tissue viscoelasticity, offering insights into intracranial meningiomas. MRE‐derived parameters, including the storage modulus (G') and the magnitude of the complex modulus (|G*|), may aid neurosurgical planning, but their repeatability remains unexplored in brain tumors.
