Laser Skin Resurfacing with the Q-switched Nd:YAG Laser
Dermatologic Surgery, 1997Recent studies have shown that char-free pulsed carbon dioxide lasers are useful in the treatment of rhytids. Other infrared lasers have also been observed to induce changes in the skin.In this pilot study, we evaluated the rhytid resurfacing capability of the Q-switched neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garden (QS Nd:YAG) laser at 1064 nm as compared with ...

Unpolarized EO Q-switched laser
Applied Optics, 1983A novel laser design is given that uses a special polarizing device to generate unpolarized Q-switched laser energy with a conventional EO Pockels cell. The special polarizing device, which replaces the linear polarizer normally used in conventional Q-switched resonators, allows solid-state lasers to operate efficiently at high repetition rates.

Q switched Neodymium:YAG Laser Iridotomy
Ophthalmology, 1984Twenty phakic eyes of 19 patients underwent Q-switched neodymium:YAG laser iridotomies for angle-closure glaucoma. Eleven eyes were previous argon laser failures. Penetration was achieved in each case with several shots in one session. Complications were minor and transient.

One of the most attractive features of fibre lasers is their ability to produce significant pulse powers when Q-switched. Potential applications for such lasers include non-linear switching, OTDR measurements, materials processing and range-finding. We have, already demonstrated 100W:15ns pulses from a diode pumped Nd3+ fibre-laser and have obtained ...

Optimization of Q-switched lasers
IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1991The authors extend the standard rate equation analysis to obtain expressions for the maximum peak power, maximum pulse energy, and minimum pulsewidth of a single Q-switched output pulse; the maximum power efficiency of a repetitively Q-switched laser; and the corresponding cavity output couplings.

Passively Q-switched microchip lasers and applications!
2003 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe (CLEO/Europe 2003) (IEEE Cat. No.03TH8666), 1998Diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YAG microchip lasers are compact, economical, all-solid-state sources of coherent, subnanosecond, multikilowatt pulses at high repetition rates, with applications in diverse areas.

Passively Q-switched, diode pumped, all solid-state lasers are an elegant, yet simple, means to generate single-frequency laser pulses in the nanosecond and sub-nanosecond regions. The majority of the work on these systems has been in the 1-/spl mu/m region, but recent developments at eye-safe and mid-infrared wavelengths of both diode-pumped lasers ...
