Using tensor properties of four wave mixing in semiconductor optical amplifiers for polarization independent wavelength conversion or pump suppression [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Summary form only given. Wavelength conversion by four-wave mixing (FWM) in semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) has several advantages, including transparency to the modulation format and bit rate.

Prospects of Electric Field Control in Perpendicular Magnetic Tunnel Junctions and Emerging 2D Spintronics for Ultralow Energy Memory and Logic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electric control of magnetic tunnel junctions offers a path to drastically reduce the energy requirements of the device. Electric field control of magnetization can be realized in a multitude of ways. These mechanisms can be integrated into existing spintronic devices to further reduce the operational energy.

Multi-objective optimization predictive control of high-power explosion-proof permanent synchronous motor

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2019
In view of problems that traditional multi-objective predictive control method based on weighting method cannot effectively deal with contradiction of objectives and complex design of weight coefficient, a multi-objective optimization predictive control ...

Calculations of laser cavity dumping for optical communications [PDF]

open access: yes
For deep-space pulse-position modulation (PPM) optical communication links using Nd:YAG lasers, two types of laser transmitter modulation techniques are available for efficiently producing laser pulses over a broad range of repetition rates: Q-switching ...

Q-Switching and mode-locking pulse generation based on passive techniques / Amri Ab. Rahman [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The field of fiber lasers and fiber optic devices has experienced a sustained rapid growth despite witnessing the infamous ‘telecom bubble burst’. All-fiber optic devices have inherent advantages of relatively low cost, compact design, light weight, low ...

Wavelength‐Dependent Differential Amplification of Raman Scattering by Chiral Gold Nanorods for Multiplexed Encoding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The SERS spectra of reporter molecules adsorbed on chiral gold nanorods depends on the handedness of circularly polarized light (CPL‐SERS). The bisignate plasmonic CD spectra of chiral nanorods provides wavelength‐dependent CPL‐SERS. Selective discrimination of chiral nanorod handedness and different Raman reporters allow highly sensitive codification ...

Visible Triple-Wavelength Switchable Emission Generated in Passively Q-Switched Nd:YVO4 Self-Raman Laser

open access: yesPhotonics
We report a passively Q-switched self-Raman laser using a dual-end composite c-cut Nd:YVO4 crystal, which generates switchable visible emissions at 533 nm, 560 nm, and 589 nm.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
