Disruption of salt bridge interactions in the inter‐domain cleft of the tubulin‐like protein FtsZ of Escherichia coli makes cells sensitive to the cell division inhibitor PC190723

open access: yesCytoskeleton, Volume 82, Issue 7, Page 415-431, July 2025.
Abstract FtsZ forms a ring‐like assembly at the site of division in bacteria. It is the first protein involved in the formation of the divisome complex to split the cell into two halves, indicating its importance in bacterial cell division. FtsZ is an attractive target for developing new anti‐microbial drugs to overcome the challenges of antibiotic ...

Temporal Trends in Correlates for Suicidal Thoughts and Behaviors Among Black High School Students in the United States, 1991–2021

open access: yesSuicide and Life-Threatening Behavior, Volume 55, Issue 3, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Suicide among Black youth has become a public health concern. To better understand the rapid increase in Black youth suicide, we aimed to determine whether there had been changes in the risk correlates and their impacts on suicidality among Black youth over the past three decades.

How Do Cognitive Proximity and Knowledge Space Position Affect Firms' Innovation? Evidence From Micro and Small Manufacturing Firms in South Africa

open access: yesGrowth and Change, Volume 56, Issue 1, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Cognitive proximity between firms, and their position in relation to other firms in a knowledge space, can influence firms' innovation performance. While some studies have begun analysing this in developing countries, there is a dearth of evidence in Africa, and more generally for small and especially micro enterprises as well as for informal ...

Wechselseitige Abhängigkeit zwischen Membranphasentrennung und Dynamik bakterieller Zellteilungsproteine in synthetischen Zellmodellen

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 6, February 3, 2025.

Mutual Dependence between Membrane Phase Separation and Bacterial Division Protein Dynamics in Synthetic Cell Models

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 64, Issue 6, February 3, 2025.
We demonstrate the mutual dependence of membrane phase separation and bacterial division protein dynamics. By reconstituting Min and Fts proteins inside phase separated GUVs, we observe interesting mode selection for protein dynamics and change in the reaction kinetics.
