Factorizations of the groupsG 2 (q)
Archiv der Mathematik, 1985Let \(G_ 2(q)\) be the (simple) group of Lie type \((G_ 2)\) over the finite field GF(q). The following result is proved. Theorem. Let \(G=G_ 2(q)\) and \(G=AB\) where A, B are proper non-Abelian simple subgroups of G. Then one of the following holds: (1) \(q=4\) and \(A\cong HJ\), \(B\cong U_ 3(4)\); (2) \(q=3^ n\) and \(A\cong L_ 3(q)\), \(B\cong U_ ...

On the perturbation of the Q‐factor of the QR factorization
Numerical Linear Algebra with Applications, 2011SUMMARYThis paper gives normwise and componentwise perturbation analyses for the Q‐factor of the QR factorization of the matrix A with full column rank when A suffers from an additive perturbation. Rigorous perturbation bounds are derived on the projections of the perturbation of the Q‐factor in the range of A and its orthogonal complement.

In this paper I criticize the Chalmers–Jackson position on the commitments of Materialism from a new direction. Unlike my earlier critique, and that of Block and Stalnaker, I here accept for the sake of argument the overall neo-Fregean semantic project that Chalmers and Jackson employ to draw out the alleged a priori commitments of Materialism ...

The Q-factor of a Continuous-wave Laser
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics 2012, 2012We define the finite Q-factor of a continuous-wave lasing resonator as the energy of coherent photons stored in the resonator at a given time over the energy of these coherent photons lost per oscillation cycle.

Q-factor of tuned microstrip resonator
Radioelectronics and Communications Systems, 2016The paper presents research of quality factor in the micro-mechanically tunable microstrip resonator and its change in response to tuning. In the presented design unloaded quality factor increases about 10% during tuning due to reduction of dielectric loss in substrate’s medium and ohmic loss in metal electrodes.

TheQ-factor of flexure membranes
Measurement Science and Technology, 2001We report on the intrinsic or material quality factor (Q-factor) of a number of different materials. possible suited for the construction of low loss flexures. Clamped foil flexure membranes made from titanium, a glassy alloy, Cusil and Havar (high strength non-magnetic alloy), as well as monolithic flexure membranes made from titanium, niobium and ...

A Note on the Perturbation Bound of Q-factors
Acta Mathematicae Applicatae Sinica, English Series, 2004By adding the orthogonal projectors into the bound of unitary polar factors, a uniform perturbation bound of \(Q\)-factors is obtained, and on this basis the previous bounds are improved.

Host Factors in the Severity of Q Fever
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1990The author has reviewed different aspects of the role of immunocompetence in the development of Q fever. Coxiella burnetii lives within the phagolysosomes of infected cells. In animals, the immunosuppression caused by either cortisone or X-irradiation reactivates Q fever.

Wavelet Transform With Tunable Q-Factor
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2011This paper describes a discrete-time wavelet transform for which the Q-factor is easily specified. Hence, the transform can be tuned according to the oscillatory behavior of the signal to which it is applied. The transform is based on a real-valued scaling factor (dilation-factor) and is implemented using a perfect reconstruction over-sampled filter ...
