Host Factors in the Severity of Q Fever

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1990
The author has reviewed different aspects of the role of immunocompetence in the development of Q fever. Coxiella burnetii lives within the phagolysosomes of infected cells. In animals, the immunosuppression caused by either cortisone or X-irradiation reactivates Q fever.

Antenna Q-factor computation with FDTD method

11th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics [ANTEM 2005], 2005
In this work, we have developed a new method for the calculation of the antenna quality factor by using the numerical method FDTD. The results obtained with our method are compared with the analytical approach of McLean and Geyi. The results show good agreement between FDTD and Geyi formulation.

High Q factor InP photonic crystal nanobeam cavities on silicon wire waveguides.

Optics Letters, 2016
High-quality (Q) factor indium phosphide (InP)-based 1D photonic crystal nanobeam cavities are fabricated on silicon on insulator waveguides. Through the optimization of the fabrication process, the intrinsic Q factor of these fully encapsulated ...

Active Q factor improvement of microstrip antenna

IMTC/99. Proceedings of the 16th IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (Cat. No.99CH36309), 1998
With recent developments in microwave communications, a great attention has been paid to "Active Microstrip Antennas". For some specific applications, such as "Oscillating Active Integrated Antenna", an active device functions as oscillator and the antenna plays the role of a resonator.

Magnetic Field Measurement

1999
Q factor characterizes the rate of dissipation of energy from an oscillating system. In practice, circuit elements are not perfect and the energy initially contained within this circuit would be lost by the circuit and the oscillations would decrease in amplitude as the energy is diminished. Energy loss in a circuit is represented by that in a resistor,

Factorization Properties of the q-Specialization of Schubert Polynomials

Annals of Combinatorics, 2000
The author determines a factorization of a double specialization of Schubert polynomials from which he derives a factorization of a specialization of \(q\)-factorial Schur functions.
