Sedimentary evolution of the embayed beach from Qinghai Lake, northern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, China

Journal of Paleolimnology, 2023
Lacustrine beach ridges are often used to reconstruct past lake levels. However, the sedimentary architecture involved in their sedimentary evolution remains unclear, particularly for embayed beaches. To better understand the sedimentary processes, the sedimentary architecture and geomorphology of an embayed beach on the southern of Qinghai Lake were ...

Holocene aeolian activity and climatic change in Qinghai Lake basin, northeastern Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau

Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2015
Abstract Aeolian deposits in the Qinghai Lake basin on the northeastern Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau (NETP) were studied in order to reconstruct changes in aeolian activity related to climatic changes over the last 12.5 ka. We used 20 optically-stimulated luminescence and conventional radiocarbon dates to construct chronological frameworks for four ...

Long-chain alkenones in Qinghai Lake sediments

Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 1996
Abstract Long-chain methyl and ethyl alkenones (C 37 -C 40 ) containing two to four double bonds have been detected in sediments from Qinghai Lake, China. This is the first report of the alkenones in lake sediments, deposited under a variety of salinity conditions, where the lake has not encountered any marine incursions.

Inversion and validation of QingHai Lake temperature

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
Making the best of the similarity and difference of Terra and Aqua satellites, the table for searching radiant temperature is established. The radiant temperature of Terra and Aqua are imitated. It's a fact that observing angle, solar zenith angle and water column of atmosphere affect radiant temperature and the transmission, and the affection is also ...

Modern carbon burial in Lake Qinghai, China

Applied Geochemistry, 2013
Abstract The quantification of carbon burial in lake sediments, and carbon fluxes derived from different origins are crucial to understand modern lacustrine carbon budgets, and to assess the role of lakes in the global carbon cycle. In this study, we estimated carbon burial in the sediment of Lake Qinghai, the largest inland lake in China, and the ...

Lake Qinghai, China

2006
Lake Qinghai lies on the northeast corner of the Tibet-Qinghai Plateau. It is a closed-basin lake and the largest water body in China with an area of about 4437 km2. Aragonite and calcite are precipitating from the brackish (TDS 12-14 g/l) and alkaline water (pH 9.1-9.4).

Lake level variations of Qinghai Lake in northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau since 3.7 ka based on OSL dating

Quaternary International, 2011
Abstract Qinghai Lake is the largest internally drained lake in China and its unique location makes it sensitive to climate changes. Late glacial climate changes associated with variation in Qinghai Lake levels have been intensively investigated for the past 40 years, with particular attention paid to lake level fluctuation histories between the last

Anomalous Plutonium Isotopic Ratios in Sediments of Lake Qinghai from the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, China

Environmental Science & Technology, 2011
The vertical profiles of (239+240)Pu and (137)Cs activities and (240)Pu/(239)Pu isotopic ratios are determined for three sediment cores of Lake Qinghai from the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, China, and compared with those in sediments of another three lakes (Lakes Bosten, Sugan, and Shuangta), the only existing ones closest to Lop Nor area, China's nuclear ...

[Ecosystem services valuation of Qinghai Lake].

Ying yong sheng tai xue bao = The journal of applied ecology, 2016
Qinghai Lake is the largest inland and salt water lake in China, and provides important ecosystem services to beneficiaries. Economic valuation of wetland ecosystem services from Qinghai Lake can reveal the direct contribution of lake ecosystems to beneficiaries using economic data, which can advance the incorporation of wetland protection of Qinghai ...
