QCD matter within a quasi-particle model and the critical end point

open access: yes, 2005
We compare our quasi-particle model with recent lattice QCD results for the equation of state at finite temperature and baryo-chemical potential. The inclusion of the QCD critical end point into models is discussed.

Ultrafast and octave-spanning optical nonlinearities from strongly phase-mismatched cascaded interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Cascaded nonlinearities have attracted much interest, but ultrafast applications have been seriously hampered by the simultaneous requirements of being near phase-matching and having ultrafast femtosecond response times.

Efficient Robust Spontaneous Parametric Down‐Conversion via Detuning Modulated Composite Segments Designs

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 5, 6 March 2026.
Detuning modulated composite segmentation (DMCS) enables robust spontaneous parametric down‐conversion with sevenfold improved temperature stability compared to conventional designs, opening new possibilities for stable quantum photon sources. ABSTRACT Spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC) holds a pivotal role in quantum physics, facilitating ...

Phase Diagram and Magnetic Excitations of Anisotropic Spin-One Magnets

open access: yes, 2013
We use a generalized spin wave approach and large scale quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) simulations to study the quantum phase diagram and quasiparticle excitations of the S=1 Heisenberg model with an easy-plane single-ion anisotropy in dimensions d=2 and 3 ...

Measurement of the Hadronic Cross-Section for the Scattering of Two Virtual Photons at LEP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The interaction of virtual photons is investigated using the reaction e+e- -> e+e- hadrons based on data taken by the OPAL experiment at e+e- centre-of-mass energies sqrt(s_ee)=189-209 GeV, for W>5 GeV and at an average Q^2 of 17.9 GeV^2.

Advances in Micro‐Transfer Printing of Lithium Niobate Thin‐Films for Silicon Photonic Devices

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
ABSTRACT Silicon and silicon nitride waveguide platforms have established themselves as ideal candidates for high‐volume photonic integration, owing to their compatibility with mature semiconductor manufacturing processes. In parallel, lithium niobate has garnered significant attention for its superior electro‐optic and nonlinear properties ...
