Wasserstein Regression, Forecasting, and Change‐Point Detection for Daily Traffic Flow Distributions

open access: yesStatistical Analysis and Data Mining: An ASA Data Science Journal, Volume 19, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT We develop a distribution‐valued framework for modeling, forecasting, and monitoring traffic flow counts by treating each day as a probability distribution summarized by jittered empirical quantile signatures. Inference is conducted under the 2‐Wasserstein geometry, which in one dimension is isometric to the L2(0,1)$$ {L}^2\left(0,1\right ...

Nanoscale Ordering of Magnetosomes Under the Influence of a Magnetic Field Investigated by Small‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Recently, the synthetic Rhodospirillum rubrum ‘magneticum’ has been shown to enable the light‐driven production of magnetosomes (MAGs) in high yields. These membrane‐enveloped magnetic nanoparticles represent promising alternatives to their chemically synthesized analogs for many applications in the biotechnological and biomedical field.

Computational Fluid Dynamics Reveals Mass Transfer Limitations in a Pilot‐Scale Microbial Electrolysis Cell

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 98, Issue 6, June 2026.
A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model of a 1‐m3 microbial electrolysis cell (MEC) reveals that pilot‐scale MEC performance is governed by hydrodynamics and external mass transfer rather than intrinsic bioelectrochemical kinetics. Recirculation mitigates limitations in external mass transfer, increasing acetate removal from ~16% to ~48%.

Analysis of Dam Characteristics and Failure Trend of Landslide Dams With Different Materials: Field Investigation

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Landslides can block rivers and create natural dams that pose significant flooding hazards to upstream and downstream. Variations in dam materials and geometries play a critical role in controlling breach initiation and failure processes, thereby complicating failure assessment.

NuMagSANS: a GPU‐accelerated open‐source software package for the generic computation of nuclear and magnetic small‐angle neutron scattering observables of complex systems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 59, Issue 3, Page 943-959, June 2026.
NuMagSANS, a GPU‐accelerated software package for the computation of nuclear and magnetic small‐angle neutron scattering cross sections and correlation functions of complex systems, is presented. We present NuMagSANS, a GPU‐accelerated software package for calculating nuclear and magnetic small‐angle neutron scattering (SANS) cross sections and ...
