Imaging the Centromedian Thalamic Nucleus Using Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping
The centromedian (CM) nucleus is an intralaminar thalamic nucleus that is considered as a potentially effective target of deep brain stimulation (DBS) and ablative surgeries for the treatment of multiple neurological and psychiatric disorders.

We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

Background: The utility of imaging methods to detect iron content in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc) and free water imaging in the posterior substantia nigra (pSN) has the potential to be imaging markers for the detection of Parkinson’s disease (

Abstract Objective Detection of epilepsy‐causing structural brain lesions on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is critical for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment planning in people with epilepsy. We aimed to establish an epilepsy‐directed multisite harmonized 3‐T MRI acquisition protocol for the Australian Epilepsy Project (AEP) and describe the ...

Second‐trimester multimetabolite panel for early preeclampsia rule‐out
Abstract Objective We aimed to establish a high‐sensitivity, multimetabolite rule‐out model for the development of preeclampsia (PE), prioritizing minimizing false negatives to exclude low‐risk individuals from intensive surveillance confidently. Methods In this prospective, nested case–control study, maternal serum samples were collected between 20+0 ...

Direct Targeting of the Anterior Nucleus of the Thalamus via 3 T Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping
Objective: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the anterior nucleus of the thalamus (ANT) is a potentially effective, minimally invasive, and reversible method for treating epilepsy.

ABSTRACT Background Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) heightens cognitive impairment risk, yet the mechanisms remain unclear. Hyperglycemia‐induced iron dysregulation in deep gray matter (DGM) nuclei may be a crucial mechanism. Purpose To investigate DGM iron deposition in T2DM using Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) and determine its association with ...

ABSTRACT Background Assessment of amyloid‐β (Aβ) burden and associated iron deposition and neurodegeneration is important for Alzheimer's disease (AD) management. Although quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) detects iron and myelin changes, conventional metrics suffer from signal cancelation between paramagnetic and diamagnetic components ...
