X-QUEST: A Comprehensive X-ray Study of Local ULIRGs and QSOs

open access: yes, 2010
We present results from the X-ray portion of a multi-wavelength study of local ULIRGs and QSOs called QUEST (Quasar-ULIRG Evolution STudy). The data consist of new and archival X-ray data on 40 ULIRGs and 26 PG QSOs taken with Chandra and XMM-Newton.

The Chandra Source Catalog Normal Galaxy Sample

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
We present the extensive and well-characterized Chandra X-ray Galaxy Catalog (CGC) of 8547 galaxy candidates in the redshift range z ∼ 0.04–0.7, optical luminosity 10 ^10 –10 ^11 L _r _⊙ , and X-ray luminosity (0.5–7 keV) L _X = 2 × 10 ^40 –2 × 10 ^43 ...

The Continuum Slopes of Optically Selected QSOs [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Quasi-simultaneous optical/near-IR photometry is presented for a sample of 37 luminous optically selected QSOs drawn from the Large Bright QSO Survey. Most of the QSOs have decreased in brightness since discovery; this is expected in flux-limited samples.

QSO Environments at Intermediate Redshifts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We have made a survey of quasar environments at 0.5 < z < 0.8, using a sample of both radio-loud and radio-quiet quasars matched in B-band luminosity. Our observations include images of background control fields to provide a good determination of the field galaxy counts.

Animal Venoms as Peptide Libraries for the Discovery of Antiglioblastoma Agents

open access: yesBiochemistry Research International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Glioblastoma is one of the most aggressive and widely recognized types of brain tumors, characterized by significant cellular and molecular diversity and an inherently aggressive nature. The treatment remains highly challenging, with limited effectiveness and persistently low survival rates.

The SUPERCOLD-CGM Survey. II. [C i](1–0) Emission and the Physical Conditions of Cold Gas in Enormous Lyα Nebulae at z ∼ 2

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array and Atacama Compact Array observations of atomic carbon ([C i ](1–0)) and dust continuum in 10 enormous Ly α nebulae hosting ultraluminous Type-I QSOs at z = 2.2–2.5, as part of the Survey of ...

A Deep HST H-Band Imaging Survey of Massive Gas-Rich Mergers. II. The QUEST PG QSOs

open access: yes, 2009
We report the results from a deep HST NICMOS H-band imaging survey of 28 z < 0.3 QSOs from the Palomar-Green (PG) sample. This program is part of QUEST (Quasar / ULIRG Evolution STudy) and complements a similar set of data on 26 highly-nucleated ULIRGs ...

Eddington Accretion and QSO Emission Lines at z ~ 2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Broad Absorption Line (BAL) QSOs have been suggested to be youthful super-accretors based on their powerful radiatively driven absorbing outflows and often reddened continua. To test this hypothesis, we observed near IR spectra of the H$\beta$ region for
