Investigation of Exothermic Behaviors of Energetic Particles in Microfluidics Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Scheme and representative frames of delivery, ignition, and combustion process of core@shell Al@CuO energetic material in a microchannel. The electrical discharge occurred at the throat of microchannel leads to the combustion of the energetic reaction, causing the formation of high‐momentum butterfly‐shaped jet at the throat.

Jigsaw Pattern Infills Inspired by Toughening Mechanisms of Diabolical Ironclad Beetle for 3D Printing Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A biomimetic Jigsaw pattern infill for 3D printer has been developed. Its mechanical features with continuous carbon fiber reinforcement (CCFR) are investigated through the Design of Experiments. The Jigsaw infill minimizes mechanical strength losses caused by variability in infill density, flow rate, or carbon fiber string amount, outperforming ...

Additive Manufacturing of Negative Thermal Expansion Metamaterials Using Steels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Architected lattices with tunable negative thermal expansion are fabricated from common steels using laser powder bed fusion metal additive manufacturing. Optimized multimaterial interfaces and geometry‐driven design produce robust, defect‐minimized structures that remain dimensionally stable up to 300 °C, enabling scalable solutions for thermal ...

Fiber Bragg Gratings with Micro‐Engineered Temperature Coefficients

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are intrinsically responsive to temperature and strain simultaneously. In this research, low‐loss FBGs with micro‐engineered temperature coefficients are fabricated, utilizing refractive index liquid‐filled microchannels in the cladding.

Nonlinear Transmission of Strong THz‐Electric Fields Through Thin Gold Films

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Gold is is the prime metal for imaging THz radiation. This study demonstrates that the interaction of strong THz pulses with gold becomes nonlinear at certain peak THz‐electric field strengths. The strong fields change the electron density of states which contributing to the absorption of the propagating THz pulse.

FRET‐Enhanced Singlet Fission in Pentacene Derivatives

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Excitation of molecules in blend funnels light energy via Förster resonance energy transfer toward reaction centers where singlet fission generates multiple excitons. Abstract Conversion of solar energy with high quantum efficiencies is a key challenge in energy technologies. Excitation energy transfer (EET) mechanisms, such as Förster resonance energy

Design of a Bilayer Metalens for Red, Green, and Blue‐Achromatic Imaging with Wide Field of View

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Herein, an RGB‐achromatic bilayer metalens with a wide 80‐degree field‐of‐view and a high 0.65 numerical aperture is presented. Using silicon nitride meta‐atoms, it maintains consistent focal lengths for red, green, and blue light, even at oblique angles.
