Path integrals and wavepacket evolution for damped mechanical systems

open access: yes, 2006
Damped mechanical systems with various forms of damping are quantized using the path integral formalism. In particular, we obtain the path integral kernel for the linearly damped harmonic oscillator and a particle in a uniform gravitational field with ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The system of mixed type additive-quadratic equations and approximations

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications
In this article, we study the structure of a multiple variable mapping. Indeed, we reduce the system of several mixed additive-quadratic equations defining a multivariable mapping to obtain a single functional equation, say, the multimixed additive ...

Analysis of students' errors in solving quadratic equation word problems based on Watson's criteria

open access: yesJournal Focus Action of Research Mathematic
This research is motivated by the phenomenon of low student ability in solving word problems in mathematics, indicating significant challenges in understanding and applying mathematical concepts in real-life contexts. The aim of this study is to describe

A polynomial bound on solutions of quadratic equations in free groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
We provide polynomial upper bounds on the size of a shortest solution for quadratic equations in a free group. A similar bound is given for parametric solutions in the description of solutions sets of quadratic equations in a free group.

Solution of a quadratic quaternion equation with mixed coefficients

open access: yes, 2015
A comprehensive analysis of the morphology of the solution space for a special type of quadratic quaternion equation is presented. This equation, which arises in a surface construction problem, incorporates linear terms in a quaternion variable and its ...

A Novel Simulation Approach for Damage Evolution during Tailored Forming

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Traditional damage models are struggling to accurately and efficiently simulate large‐scale three‐dimensional models with a great number of degrees of freedoms. A new gradient‐enhanced damage model based on the extended Hamilton principle can significantly reduce the computation time while ensuring mesh‐independence which is suitable to use in tailored

Differential human growth restudied

open access: yesAnnals of Human Biology, 2018
Background: The study of differential growth in various animals suggests that a similar growth pattern occurs throughout the bilateral animals. This growth pattern is based on the assumption that a quadratic equation describes the relationship between ...

Estimates on modulation spaces for Schrödinger evolution operators with quadratic and sub-quadratic potentials [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
In this paper we give new estimates for the solution to the Schr\"odinger equation with quadratic and sub-quadratic potentials in the framework of modulation spaces.

Quadratic reductions of quadrilateral lattices

open access: yes, 1998
It is shown that quadratic constraints are compatible with the geometric integrability scheme of the multidimensional quadrilateral lattice equation. The corresponding Ribaucour reduction of the fundamental transformation of quadrilateral lattices is ...
