The product of two quadratic matrices

open access: yes, 2001
Let p=(x−β)(x−β−1)∈K[x] where β2≠β−2 and let V be a finite-dimensional vector space over the field K. A linear mapping M:V→V is called quadratic if p(M)=0.

Van der Waals Chromium Telluride Thin Films Prepared by Hybrid Pulsed Laser Deposition With Tunable Magnetism

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Epitaxial Cr(1+δ)Te2 thin films were synthesized via hybrid Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) that combined Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) techniques with PLD. Control of the Cr intercalation, δ, enabled modulation of magnetic anisotropy, Curie temperature, and transport properties.

Study on Approximate C∗-Bimultiplier and JC∗-Bimultiplier in C∗-Ternary Algebra

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences
An additive-quadratic mapping F:A×A⟶B is one that adheres to the following equations: Fr+s,t=Fr,t+Fs,t,Fr,s+t+Fr,s−t=2Fr,s+2Fr,t. This paper leverages the fixed-point method to investigate C∗-bimultiplier and JC∗-bimultiplier approximations on C∗-ternary

Nonlinear stability of a quadratic functional equation with complex involution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
summary:Let $X, Y$ be complex vector spaces. Recently, Park and Th.M. Rassias showed that if a mapping $f : X \rightarrow Y$ satisfies \begin{eqnarray} f(x+i y)+ f(x-iy) = 2 f(x) - 2f(y) \end{eqnarray} for all $x$, $y\in X$, then the mapping $f \colon X \

Large Faraday Rotation in Liquid Crystals With Embedded Paramagnetic Ions (Cu2+, VO2+) at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Large Faraday rotation at room temperature is observed in thin films of discotic copper (Cu2+: 3d9) and vanadyl (VO2+: 3d1) enaminoketone complexes. The large Verdet constant originates from a high density of paramagnetic centers, metal‐ligand p−d hybridization and π orbitals involved in optical transitions (identified by DFT calculations), as well as ...

Unraveling the mystery of hearing in gerbil and other rodents with an arch-beam model of the basilar membrane

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The mammalian basilar membrane (BM) consists of two collagen-fiber layers responsible for the frequency-to-place tonotopic mapping in the cochlea, which together form a flat beam over at least part of the BM width.

Embedding Equality Constraints of Optimization Problems into a Quantum Annealer

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2019
Quantum annealers such as D-Wave machines are designed to propose solutions for quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) problems by mapping them onto the quantum processing unit, which tries to find a solution by measuring the parameters of a ...

Multiplicative quadratic maps

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we prove that a multiplicative quadratic map between a unital ring $K$ and a field $L$ is induced by a homomorphism from $K$ into $L$ or a composition algebra over $L$. Especially we show that if $K$ is a field, then every multiplicative quadratic map is the product of two field homomorphisms.
