Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Optimal Bounds for Neuman-Sándor Mean in Terms of the Convex Combinations of Harmonic, Geometric, Quadratic, and Contraharmonic Means

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
We present the best possible lower and upper bounds for the Neuman-Sándor mean in terms of the convex combinations of either the harmonic and quadratic means or the geometric and quadratic means or the harmonic and contraharmonic means.

A Meta-Analysis to Understand the Relationship between Pig Body Weight and Variation from Birth to Market

open access: yesAnimals, 2021
This meta-analysis aims to understand the changes in pig body weight (BW) variation from birth to market and develop prediction equations for coefficient of variation (CV) and standard deviation (SD) as a function of BW. Standard deviation is the measure

On the Equivalence of Quadratic Optimization Problems Commonly Used in Portfolio Theory

open access: yes, 2013
In the paper, we consider three quadratic optimization problems which are frequently applied in portfolio theory, i.e, the Markowitz mean-variance problem as well as the problems based on the mean-variance utility function and the quadratic utility ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Portfolio Optimization in terms of Justifiability Short Selling and Some Market Practical Constraints [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات مالی, 2013
Short-selling prohibition has been one of the primary assumptions of Markowitz mean-variance model. Solving Markowitz quadratic model creates investment efficient frontier by considering only two return and budget constraints.

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...

Source Coding for Quasiarithmetic Penalties

open access: yes, 2006
Huffman coding finds a prefix code that minimizes mean codeword length for a given probability distribution over a finite number of items. Campbell generalized the Huffman problem to a family of problems in which the goal is to minimize not mean codeword

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Time-inconsistent linear-quadratic optimal control for mean-field stochastic equation with jump

open access: yesFranklin Open
This paper investigates the time-inconsistency in linear-quadratic optimal control problem for mean-field stochastic equation with jump-diffusion. We introduced the open-loop equilibrium and the closed-loop strategy at first.
