Extreme wave elevations beneath offshore platforms, second order trapping, and the near flat form of the quadratic transfer functions [PDF]

open access: yesComputers & Fluids, 2015
Extreme free surface elevations due to wave-structure interactions are investigated to second order using Quadratic Transfer Functions (QTFs). The near-trapping phenomenon for small arrays of closely spaced columns is studied for offshore applications, and the excitation of modes by linear and second order interactions is compared.

Structure‐preserving interpolation of quadratic‐bilinear systems via regular multivariate transfer functions

open access: yesPAMM
AbstractFor the accurate modeling of real‐world phenomena, high‐dimensional nonlinear dynamical systems are indispensable. Quadratic‐bilinear nonlinearities are of particular importance since many systems with general nonlinearities can be remodeled into this form.

Comparison of empirical methods for estimation of quadratic transfer functions of low-frequency hydrodynamic loads

open access: yesOcean Engineering
This study compares three methods for estimating quadratic transfer functions (QTFs) of low-frequency hydrodynamic loads on floating structures from experiments: Cross-Bi-Spectral (CBS) analysis, Regression-Based (RB) estimation, and Harmonic Probing of Nonlinear Auto-Regressive eXogenous models (NARX-HP).
