CLEAR Interference Cancellation in a Wideband Dual‐Channel Receiver for Independent Satellite Multi‐Connectivity Links

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, the correlation learning estimation and adaptive reduction (CLEAR) of interference, an adaptive, blind and transparent interference compensation method applied in a wideband dual‐channel receiver, is studied for a pair of independent satellite multi‐connectivity links, using the same carrier frequency and signal bandwidth in use

Scalable Manufacturing of Amino Acid‐Based Piezoelectric Biocrystal Films

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This work presents a continuous manufacturing strategy for glycine‐PVA piezoelectric films through dynamically controlled crystallization. This stable and industrially viable strategy offers significant potential for mass production of piezoelectric biocrystal films and biocompatible devices.

Demultiplexing in mode-division multiplexing system using multichannel blind deconvolution

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We propose a mode demultiplexing method based on multichannel blind deconvolution (MBD) for a mode-division multiplexing (MDM) system. A 6 $\times$ 6 MDM transmission system is simulated to verify the performance of MBD.

Transforming Paper into Plasmonic Sensors: One‐Step Fabrication of High‐Enhancement SERS Nanosubstrates via Surface Energy Control

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Cellulose paper is transformed into a high‐performance plasmonic sensor through a process called SILVERED, which involves single‐step vapor deposition onto fluorosilanized fibers. Surface‐energy contrast drives uniform silver nanoparticle growth with sub‐10 nm hot‐spot gaps, achieving 2 pM detection of rhodamine B.

In-Phase and Quadrature Frequency-Shift Keying for Low-Power Optical Wireless Communications

open access: yesPhysical Communication
International audience ; This article proposes using in-phase and quadrature frequency-shift keying (IQFSK) modulation for low-power optical wireless communications (OWC). IQFSK independently leverages both cosine and sine basis functions to enhance the system’s spectral efficiency (SE).

Fully signed quadrature space shift keying MIMO modulation

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
A novel multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) space shift keying (SSK) modulation scheme, termed fully signed quadrature space shift keying (FSQ-SSK), is proposed in this paper.

Estimation of BER from Error Vector Magnitude for Optical Coherent Systems

open access: yesPhotonics, 2016
This paper presents the estimation of bit error ratio (BER) from error vector magnitude (EVM) for M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) formats in optical coherent systems employing carrier phase recovery with differential decoding to compensate ...

Influence of Moisture on Electrical Properties of Fibre‐Reinforced Polymer Core Rod in the Decay‐Like Degraded Composite Insulator

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Abnormal heating due to decay‐like degradation in composite insulators is influenced by environmental moisture, but the relationship between the internal degradation status of the core rods and their electrical properties under varying humidity conditions remains poorly understood. In this work, the decay‐like degraded fibre‐reinforced polymer

Preemptive Entry and Technology Diffusion: The Market for Drive‐In Theaters

open access: yesThe RAND Journal of Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article studies entry preemption in new industries. We first test a key prediction of dynamic entry games: Entry preemption is most relevant in intermediate‐sized markets, where firms face highest uncertainty about future entry. Using US drive‐in theater market (1945–1957) data, we find robust evidence for this non‐monotonic relationship ...
