A Highly Efficient Two‐Sided Temporal Convolutional Neural Network for Wideband Digital Predistortion of RF Power Amplifiers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Numerical Modelling: Electronic Networks, Devices and Fields, Volume 39, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Behavioral models for Power Amplifier (PAs), particularly those based on Neural Networks (NNs), often suffer from high computational complexity when handling wideband signals. In this paper, we present a novel behavior model for wideband GaN PAs based on a Two‐Sided Temporal Convolutional Neural Network (TST‐CNN).

Monolithic Integration of ScAlN Modulators on Silicon‐On‐Insulator Platform

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 9, 6 May 2026.
Monolithic integration of scandium‐doped aluminum nitride (ScAlN) modulators on a silicon‐on‐insulator platform is reported. A multilayer electrode design enhances RF‐optical field overlap, enabling direct access to the diagonal electro‐optic coefficient and improved modulation efficiency.

Explicit‐Implicit Material Point Method for Dense Granular Flows With a Novel Regularized µ(I) Model

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 50, Issue 7, Page 3256-3273, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The material point method (MPM) is widely employed to simulate granular flows. Although explicit time integration is favored in most current MPM implementations for its simplicity, it cannot rigorously incorporate the incompressible µ(I)‐rheology, an efficient model ubiquitously adopted in other particle‐based numerical methods. While operator‐

Optimal Control of the Viscous Wave Equation via the Pontryagin Maximum Principle

open access: yesNumerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, Volume 42, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT A tracking‐type optimal control problem governed by the viscous wave equation with a distributed‐source control and L2$$ {L}^2 $$‐L1$$ {L}^1 $$ control costs is investigated. For this class of PDE‐constrained linear‐convex problems, a Pontryagin maximum principle (PMP) in the PDE setting is derived, and it is shown that the pointwise ...

Terrain Classification for Planetary Rovers Using Wireless In‐Wheel Sensor Modules and Machine Learning

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, Volume 43, Issue 3, Page 1884-1904, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Safe and reliable mobility over different kinds of ground is important for planetary rovers on space missions. Since terrain changes might affect the mobility of the rover, energy consumption, and safety, detecting the type of ground in real‐time is vital.

Forward and Adjoint Calculations of Gravitational Potential in Heterogeneous, Aspherical Planets

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We have developed a computational package for the calculation of numerically exact internal and external gravitational potential, its functional derivatives and sensitivity kernels, in an aspherical, heterogeneous planet. We detail our implementation, utilizing a transformation of the Poisson equation into a spherical reference domain, as well

A Decade of Airborne Electromagnetic Surveying Lake Menindee (Australia) Under Varying Water Levels

open access: yesGeophysical Prospecting, Volume 74, Issue 4, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Time domain airborne electromagnetic (AEM) surveying is a mature geophysical tool for imaging the Earth's shallow subsurface. It produces images of the electromagnetic conductivity structure of the earth, down to depths of a few hundred metres.

4D Seismic Inversion to Changes in Pressure and Saturation Using Deep Learning

open access: yesGeophysical Prospecting, Volume 74, Issue 4, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents a deep learning (DL)‐based 4D inversion approach for estimating dynamic reservoir properties—pressure change, water saturation change and gas saturation change—from 4D seismic data. The workflow reduces reliance on reservoir simulation‐driven static modelling stage in the sim2seis pipelines by using DL‐derived 3D ...
