Potential of Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance in Pharmaceutical Analysis
Analytical Chemistry, 2005Nuclear quadrupole resonance is a radio frequency (rf) spectroscopic technique, closely related to NMR, which can be used to detect signals from solids containing nuclei with spin quantum number >1/2. It is nondestructive, highly specific and noninvasive, requires no static magnetic field, and as such is currently used in the detection of explosives ...

Nonlocal potentials and the quadrupole moment of the deuteron
Journal of Physics G: Nuclear Physics, 1976It is demonstrated that for nonlocal potentials the quadrupole moment of the deuteron is not determined by the parameters which describe the scattering in the 3S1-3D1 state.

Dipole-Quadrupole Interaction in Spherical Nuclei and Berry Potentials
Physical Review Letters, 1988We show that SO(3) gauge potentials arise in the Born-Oppenheimer description of the interaction between the dipole and quadrupole vibrations in even-even spherical nuclei and derive the effective Hamiltonian for the quadrupole motion.

Collective potentials and dipole and quadrupole giant resonances
Nuclear Physics A, 1978Abstract The dynamic collective model is extended into the energy region immediately above the giant dipole resonances, i.e. into an energy region between 20 and 28 MeV. The total Hamiltonian is constructed and the dynamical problem is solved by diagonalizing the Hamiltonian in the basis of a five-dimensional harmonic oscillator.

The model of the generalized effective potential of the quadrupole field is considered. The model is based on the stability limit of the charged particles' oscillations in the composition of the high-frequency and static quadrupole electric fields. The representation of the polyharmonic oscillations in the variable fields by harmonic oscillations in ...

Quadrupole perturbation of the harmonic oscillator potential
Zeitschrift fr Physik A: Atoms and Nuclei, 1977TheSU(3) symmetry of the harmonic oscillator potential is used to calculate exactly the second order energy correction, caused by quadrupole deformations. This can be done in a purely algebraic manner, using the Dalgarno-Schwartz formulation of perturbation theory. Some connections of this method with group theory are discussed and an extension to more

Study of Quadrupole Mass Filter Supplied with a New Impulsional Potential
European Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2012The paper reports on some theoretical studies concerning the impulsional mode of a quadrupole mass filter (QMF) supplied with a new periodic impulsional radio frequency voltage of the form V ac cos(ω t)⌊1 + kcos(⅓ω t)⌋/1 – √ kcos(2ω t) with 0 ≤ k < 1 (⌊.⌋ means floor function) and ...

Potential Distribution and Transmission Characteristics in a Curved Quadrupole Ion Guide
Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, 2011The potential distribution in the curved quadrupole is exactly characterized by the Laplace equation, and an approximate solution to the Laplace equation is calculated. We represent the Laplace equation under the coordinates named minimal rotation frame (MRF) and derive an expression on the hexapole and octopole superposition.

Gauge potential for neutral atoms in a magnetic quadrupole field
Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 2013We consider a spinor Bose-Einstein condensate of neutral atoms in a magnetic quadrupole field and investigate the gauge potential derived from the spatially-varying magnetic field. We discuss the critical condition for a singular, quantized vortex state being energetically favored in the spinor condensate and find that it is necessary under ...

Potential distribution and focal properties of electrostatic quadrupole lenses
Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1978The potential distribution of a quadrupole lens with circular electrodes is calculated by successive over-relaxation techniques involving the numerical solution of Laplace's equation in three dimensions. The results show that the modified bell-shaped model (parameters: 2z0=l-1.1a; b=1.44a) is a very close approximation to the potential function for the
