Ozone 17O quadrupole transitions in chloroform glass

Journal of Molecular Structure, 1980
Abstract 17O pure quadrupole transitions have been detected in ozone dissolved in a chloroform glass at 1.5°K with a field-cycling proton double resonance spectrometer. A broad resonance centered at 5.50 MHz is tentatively assigned to unresolved v 3 2 ↔ 1 2 and v 5 2 ↔ 3f 2 transitions, from terminal oxygen atoms. The assignment

Electric quadrupole transitions in LiI, BeII, BIII

Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 1975
Abstract Theoretical values of the weighted oscillator strengths for different electric quadrupole transitions of LiI, BeII and BIII have been calculated using analytic Hartree-Fock wave functions. An appropriate hypervirial check has been made to assess the accuracy of the values. Some interesting features of the hypervirial operator are discussed.

Quadrupole transitions at very small momentum transfer in nuclei

Physical Review C, 1988
The giant quadrupole resonance and the low-lying quadrupole transition have been investigated in /sup 58/Ni, /sup 92/Mo, /sup 120,124/Sn, /sup 140/Ce, and /sup 208/Pb by inelastic scattering of 108.5 MeV /sup 3/He particles at very small angles. Anomalous rise of the giant quadrupole resonance cross section is observed to 0/sup 0/.

Electric quadrupole transitions in x-ray spectra: 3dtransition-metal oxides

Physical Review A, 1995
The intensities of the electric quadrupole transitions in the x-ray spectra of the 3d-transition-metal monoxide diatomic molecules were calculated using the discrete variational method of the local-density approximation. The quadrupole transition intensities have been found to be negligible for the left-hand-side 3d metal oxides.

Electric quadrupole transition probabilities in even nuclei

Nuclear Physics A, 1969
Abstract The collective E2 transition rates between allowed positive-parity states of even nuclei are computed using the rotational component of the wave function as well as its β- and γ-part. In 65% (90) of 163 experimental intensity ratios compared with predicted values, agreement is found within a factor 2 (10).

Classical Oscillator Model for Electric Quadrupole Transitions

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1971
A classical oscillator model for electric quadrupole transitions is presented, analogous to the Lorentz oscillator model for electric dipole transitions. The model allows one to describe classically the processes of spontaneous emission, scattering, and absorption, taking into account the force of radiative reaction.

QUADRUPOLE STRENGTH IN THE N→Δ TRANSITION

2001
The possibility of nucleon deformation raised more than 20 years ago 1 still remains an open one. The presence of resonant quadrupole amplitudes in the transition to the only isolated excited state of the nucleon is regarded as the definitive signature of deviation from the simplistic spherical models of the nucleon and/or the delta.

Magnetic quadrupole transitions in X-ray spectra

Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics, 1969
In continuation of the classification of forbidden transitions in x-ray spectra made by Padalia and Rao in 1969, some of the reported transitions in x-ray spectra have been classified as an admixture of electric octupole and magnetic quadrupole transitions.
