Culture System for Bobwhite Quail Embryos from the Blastoderm Stage to Hatching [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Poultry Science, 2013
Quail are divided phylogenetically into two groups, Old World quail and New World quail. Old World quail, such as the Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica), belong to the Phasianidae and distributed in the Palaearctic region (Europe, North Africa, and Asia),

Avian Diseases, 1986

The Pathogenesis of Quail Bronchitis

Avian Diseases, 1994
To determine the fate of virus and characterize the development of lesions, 1-week-old bobwhite quails (Colinus virginianus) were inoculated intratracheally with 10(6) mean tissue-culture-infective doses of quail bronchitis virus. Quails were killed and necropsied sequentially at 2, 4, 8, 16, and 24 hours postinoculation (PI) and on days 2-10 PI. Virus

AGE AND LEARNING IN QUAIL

British Journal of Psychology, 1968
The relation between age and learning capacity was investigated in two species of quail, and in two different experimental situations. Detailed curves were obtained by testing a large number of different age‐groups between hatching and maturity. The results show age changes which are not monotonic in character, but suggest the interplay of a number of ...

Pasteurellosis in Bobwhite Quail

Avian Diseases, 1991
A flock of 5000 six-week-old bobwhite quails (Colinus virginianus) experienced high mortality (52%) over a 2-day period. Mortality was 99% within a 6-day period. Clinical signs were depression followed shortly by death. Gross lesions observed in dead quails were congested lungs and, in a few cases, mottled livers.
