Qualitative shape representation based on the qualitative relative direction and distance calculus eOPRAm [PDF]
This document serves as a brief technical report, detailing the processes used to represent and reconstruct simplified polygons using qualitative spatial descriptions, as defined by the eOPRAm qualitative spatial calculus.

Discovering qualitative empirical laws [PDF]
In this paper we describe GLAUBER, an AI system that models the scientific discovery of qualitative empirical laws. We have tested the system on data from the history of early chemistry, and it has rediscovered such concepts as acids, alkalis, and salts,

We obtained potential bacterial laccase‐like multicopper oxidase (LMCO) sequences through metagenomic sequencing. All sequences exhibited significant differences from known LMCOs in databases. To select the most promising candidates, we performed structure prediction and molecular docking using alphafold2, metal3d and rosetta.

A Qualitative Linear Utility Theory for Spohn's Theory of Epistemic Beliefs [PDF]
In this paper, we formulate a qualitative "linear" utility theory for lotteries in which uncertainty is expressed qualitatively using a Spohnian disbelief function. We argue that a rational decision maker facing an uncertain decision problem in which the uncertainty is expressed qualitatively should behave so as to maximize "qualitative expected ...

Sharing Qualitative and Qualitative Longitudinal Data in the UK: Archiving Strategies and Development [PDF]
Over the past two decades significant developments have occurred in the archiving of qualitative data in the UK. The first national archive for qualitative resources, Qualidata, was established in 1994.

On reasoning in networks with qualitative uncertainty [PDF]
In this paper some initial work towards a new approach to qualitative reasoning under uncertainty is presented. This method is not only applicable to qualitative probabilistic reasoning, as is the case with other methods, but also allows the qualitative propagation within networks of values based upon possibility theory and Dempster-Shafer evidence ...

Qualitative differentiation [PDF]
Qualitative derivates and derivatives, as well as qualitative symmetric derivates and derivatives, are studied in the paper. Analogues of several results known for ordinary derivates and derivatives are obtained in the qualitative setting.

Algebraic Properties of Qualitative Spatio-Temporal Calculi [PDF]
Qualitative spatial and temporal reasoning is based on so-called qualitative calculi. Algebraic properties of these calculi have several implications on reasoning algorithms. But what exactly is a qualitative calculus? And to which extent do the qualitative calculi proposed meet these demands?
