Characteristics of Qualitative Inquiry

2023
Abstract This chapter includes a description of the types of research questions for which qualitative approaches to inquiry are well suited and provides an overview of characteristics that typify qualitative research studies. QUALITATIVE GUSTATORY CHARACTERISTICS OF DISODIUM‐5′‐GUANYLATE

British Journal of Psychology, 1971
Descriptions of the taste qualities of a nucleotide, disodium‐5′‐guanylate, are reported under two different response sets, lenient and stringent. Control comparison stimuli were de‐ionized water and weak sodium chloride, and near threshold taste concentrations were used. Twenty subjects, 10 under each response set, participated.

Quantitative Characteristics of Qualitative Localized Bonding Patterns

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2009
Patterns of localized and delocalized chemical bonding obtained using the recently proposed adaptive natural density partitioning (AdNDP) provide a qualitative description of electronic structure but miss any quantitative information. Descriptors, such as the electron localization function (ELF), provide quantitative characteristics of bonding and can ...

Branching Markov chains: Qualitative characteristics

1997
The paper considers Galton-Watson branching processes on a countable type space with the special feature that the types within a family are selected independently given the parent's type. There is a (non-periodic, irreducible) Markov matrix on the type space that prescribes how to choose the type of a child given the type of her parent.

POMOLOGICAL AND QUALITATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF APRICOT FRUITS

Acta Horticulturae, 2010
In this study, nineteen ecotypes of apricot fruits were investigated in the Province of Bari, Apulia - Southern Italy. Several pomological and qualitative characteristics of fruit, stone and pulp were evaluated. Significant differences were obtained. The variability of analyzed ecotypes can be utilized in a selection programme to improve the apricot ...

Qualitative Characteristics of Dynamical Systems

1988
We compare some basic families of orbits in a number of galactic models and in the restricted three body problem. In plane rotating barred galaxies the orbits around the Lagrangian points L4, L5, L1, L2 are qualitatively similar to the orbits around L4, L5, L3 of the restricted three body problem.
