Cost-effectiveness analysis of depression case finding followed by alerting patients and their GPs among older adults in northern England: results from a regression discontinuity study

open access: yesBJPsych Open
Background In the UK, around 1 in 4 adults over 65 years suffers from depression. Depression case finding followed by alerting patients and their general practioners (GPs) (screening + GP) is a promising strategy to facilitate depression management ...

Cost-effectiveness analysis and its application for policy evaluation for medicine or public health [PDF]

open access: yes
In comparison to the policy for other field, the policy for medicine and public health is to consider the value of life or the value of the quality of life. Quality of life is very well known as a concept of QOL.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Polydatin ameliorates ovalbumin‐induced asthma in a rat model through NCOA4‐mediated ferroautophagy and ferroptosis pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this research, a rat model of asthma was created using OVA, and polydatin served as an intervention. By inhibiting ferroautophagy mediated by NCOA4 and averting ferroptosis, polydatin has been demonstrated to reduce asthma. This work presents new ideas for investigating the mechanism of polydatin's ability to alleviate asthma, in addition to ...

How are maternal and fetal outcomes incorporated when measuring benefits of interventions in pregnancy? Findings from a systematic review of cost-utility analyses

open access: yesHealth and Quality of Life Outcomes
Objective Medical interventions used in pregnancy can affect the length and quality of life of both the pregnant person and fetus. The aim of this systematic review was to identify and describe the theoretical frameworks that underpin outcome measurement
