Feature-Aware Trilateral Filter With Energy Minimization for 3D Mesh Denoising

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Sharp edges and corners are crucial features for high-quality and fine-detailed 3D meshes, which we tend to treat as noises in previous tasks of mesh denoising mistakenly.

Pairwise Learning to Rank for Image Quality Assessment

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Because the pairwise comparison is a natural and effective way to obtain subjective image quality scores, we propose an objective full-reference image quality assessment (FR-IQA) index based on pairwise learning to rank (PLR).

Benford’s Law and Perceptual Features for Face Image Quality Assessment

open access: yesSignals, 2023
The rapid growth in multimedia, storage systems, and digital computers has resulted in huge repositories of multimedia content and large image datasets in recent years. For instance, biometric databases, which can be used to identify individuals based on

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

A quality-aware cloud selection service for computational modellers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This research sets out to help computational modellers, to select the most cost effective Cloud service provider. This is when they opt to use Cloud computing in preference to using the in-house High Performance Computing (HPC) facilities.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Towards resource-aware runtime reconfigurable component-based systems

open access: yes, 2010
The overall Quality of Service (QoS) delivered by a system depends on the resources available to its constituting components. Achieving predictable QoS behaviour therefore requires a resource-aware component framework.
