Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

Interface Design to Mitigate Inflation in Recommender Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Recommendation systems rely on user-provided data to learn about item quality and provide personalized recommendations. An implicit assumption when aggregating ratings into item quality is that ratings are strong indicators of item quality. In this work, we test this assumption using data collected from a music discovery application.

Characteristics of the Kelch domain containing (KLHDC) subfamily and relationships with diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Kelch protein superfamily includes 63 members, with the KLHDC subfamily having 10 proteins. While their functions are not fully understood, recent advances in KLHDC2's structure and role in protein degradation have highlighted its potential for drug development, especially in PROTAC therapies.

Insertion of the FeB cofactor in cNORs lacking metal inserting chaperones

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nitric oxide reductase is an enzyme found in the bacterial denitrification pathway. The NOR active site contains a non‐heme iron, often, but not always inserted with the assistance of chaperones. Here, we study the insertion of FeB in the subfamily of cNORs lacking chaperones and found a putative channel, conserved in the family, perhaps enabling the ...

Comprehensive Evaluation of the Quality of Tripterygium Glycosides Tablets Based on Multi-Component Quantification Combined with an In Vitro Biological Assay

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Tripterygium glycosides tablets (TGTs) are widely used in clinical practice to treat rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases, with significant beneficial effects but also high toxicity, necessitating rigorous quality evaluation and control. In

Synthesis of ultrahigh-quality monolayer molybdenum disulfide through in-situ defect healing with thiol molecules [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) are two-dimensional (2D) materials with many potential applications. Chemical vapour deposition (CVD) is a promising method to synthesize these materials. However, CVD-grown materials generally have poorer quality than mechanically exfoliated ones and contain more defects due to the difficulties in ...

Taurine promotes glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion in enteroendocrine L cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Taurine, a sulfur‐containing amino acid, is likely taken up by enteroendocrine L cells via the taurine transporter. This process increases the levels of cytosolic ATP. The increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion through membrane depolarization is caused by the closure of ATP‐sensitive potassium channels ...

Control Strategy Design for Power Quality Management in Active Distribution Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Uncertainty and variability of renewable energy sources present an imperative technical challenge for Electrical Distribution Utilities. Power Quality indices represent quality of energy delivered and reliability. In this work, a control strategy design for real-time PQ management in active distribution systems is presented.
