Elucidation of interface interactions between a dehydratase domain and an acyl carrier protein in cremimycin polyketide synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In modular polyketide synthases, the dehydratase (DH) domain catalyzes the dehydration reaction of the β‐hydroxyacyl unit attached to the cognate acyl carrier protein (ACP) domain. However, it is unclear how DH interacts with ACP during the reaction. In this study, we identified DH–ACP interface residues, providing the first detailed insights into DH ...

A measurement based software quality framework [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this report we propose a solution to problem of the dependency on the experience of the software project quality assurance personnel by providing a transparent, objective and measurement based quality framework. The framework helps the quality assurance experts making objective and comparable decisions in software projects by defining and assessing ...

Optimization of Software Quality Using Management and Technical Review Techniques [PDF]

open access: yesOptimization of Software Quality using Management and Technical Review Techniques- International Journal of Computer Trends and Technology by IJCTTJournal Volume-17 Number-6 Year of Publication : 2014 Authors :Inibehe Emmanuel Akpannah, 2014
Optimizing the quality of software is a function of the degree of reviews made during the early life of a software development process. Reviews detect errors and potential errors early in the software development process. The errors detected during the early life cycle of software are least expensive to correct.

Functional variation among LPMOs revealed by the inhibitory effects of cyanide and buffer ions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study addresses the inhibition of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) by cyanide and explains how and why the magnitude of observed inhibitory effects depends on the way LPMO reactions are setup and on the type of LPMO. Enzymes known as lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) are mono‐copper polysaccharide‐degrading peroxygenases that ...

Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

Characteristics of the Kelch domain containing (KLHDC) subfamily and relationships with diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Kelch protein superfamily includes 63 members, with the KLHDC subfamily having 10 proteins. While their functions are not fully understood, recent advances in KLHDC2's structure and role in protein degradation have highlighted its potential for drug development, especially in PROTAC therapies.

Terrestrial Life in Light of the Copernican Principle [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Although many solar systems have been discovered, only one example of life is known. Thus, terrestrial life represents merely one data point. Consequently, extrapolating from terrestrial life to life elsewhere in the galaxy and beyond is often seen as a limitation in the search for different forms of life.

Insertion of the FeB cofactor in cNORs lacking metal inserting chaperones

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nitric oxide reductase is an enzyme found in the bacterial denitrification pathway. The NOR active site contains a non‐heme iron, often, but not always inserted with the assistance of chaperones. Here, we study the insertion of FeB in the subfamily of cNORs lacking chaperones and found a putative channel, conserved in the family, perhaps enabling the ...
