Prediction Model for Quality Changes in Repeatedly Frozen–Thawed Pork Based on MRI Scans and Chemometrics

open access: yesFoods
This study investigated fresh pork and pork subjected to repeated freeze–thaw cycles. The effects of freeze–thaw treatments on water status, WHC, and quality attributes of pork were systematically analyzed, and a nondestructive prediction method for WHC ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Developmental effects and lipid disturbances of zebrafish embryos exposed to three newly recognized bisphenol A analogues

open access: yesEnvironment International
Bisphenol G (BPG), bisphenol M (BPM) and bisphenol TMC (BPTMC), are newly recognized analogues of bisphenol A (BPA), which have been detected in multiple environmental media. However, the understanding of their negative impacts on environmental health is

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Ai-Assisted Discovery of a Direct Physical Interaction Between a Venom Serpin from the Parasitoid Wasp Liragathis javana and a Host Serine Carboxypeptidase

open access: yesToxins
Parasitoid wasp venoms represent highly specialized biochemical arsenals that evolved to manipulate host physiology and ensure successful development of the parasitoid offspring.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Perillaldehyde-Elicited Inhibition of Ochratoxin A Production by Aspergillus carbonarius

open access: yesToxins
Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a major mycotoxin contaminant in grapes and their products, and Aspergillus carbonarius is its main producer. Controlling the growth of A. carbonarius is therefore critical for mitigating OTA contamination.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
