A Review of Uncertainty Quantification in Deep Learning: Techniques, Applications and Challenges [PDF]

open access: yesInformation Fusion, 2020
Uncertainty quantification (UQ) plays a pivotal role in reduction of uncertainties during both optimization and decision making processes. It can be applied to solve a variety of real-world applications in science and engineering.

Discovery and quantification of plastic particle pollution in human blood.

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2022
Plastic particles are ubiquitous pollutants in the living environment and food chain but no study to date has reported on the internal exposure of plastic particles in human blood.

Branching Quantification v. Two-way Quantification [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Semantics, 2009
We discuss the thesis formulated by Hintikka (1973) that certain natural language sentences require non-linear quantification to express their meaning. We investigate sentences with combinations of quantifiers similar to Hintikka's examples and propose a novel alternative reading expressible by linear formulae.

Salmon: fast and bias-aware quantification of transcript expression using dual-phase inference

open access: yesNature Methods, 2017
We introduce Salmon, a lightweight method for quantifying transcript abundance from RNA–seq reads. Salmon combines a new dual-phase parallel inference algorithm and feature-rich bias models with an ultra-fast read mapping procedure.

Revisiting the HPLC-FLD Method to Quantify Paralytic Shellfish Toxins: C3,4 Quantification and the First Steps towards Validation

open access: yesToxins, 2022
Paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs) are a large group of biotoxins that cause paralytic shellfish poisoning. Their appearance in natural waters and their ingestion by aquatic species have a huge socio-economic impact, whereby their monitoring is of the ...

The PRIDE database and related tools and resources in 2019: improving support for quantification data

open access: yesNucleic Acids Res., 2018
The PRoteomics IDEntifications (PRIDE) database (https://www.ebi.ac.uk/pride/) is the world’s largest data repository of mass spectrometry-based proteomics data, and is one of the founding members of the global ProteomeXchange (PX) consortium.

Influence of scoring methods and numerical superiority on physical demands in elite young soccer players

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Human Movement, 2021
Small-sided games (SSGs) are a useful strategy to optimize the training process in soccer. The modification of some variables simultaneously implies several physical adaptations in soccer players.

Optimal Uncertainty Quantification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We propose a rigorous framework for Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) in which the UQ objectives and the assumptions/information set are brought to the forefront.

RSEM: accurate transcript quantification from RNA-Seq data with or without a reference genome

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2011
BackgroundRNA-Seq is revolutionizing the way transcript abundances are measured. A key challenge in transcript quantification from RNA-Seq data is the handling of reads that map to multiple genes or isoforms.
