Introducing Field Environmental–Analytical Chemistry in the Quantitative Analysis Laboratory

The Chemical Educator, 2001
Advances in instrumentation and technology now provide the ability to perform many quantitative determinations in the field. Additionally, the potential for sample degradation and analyte decomposition make it necessary to determine certain analytes (e.g., dissolved oxygen) in the field when conducting environmental analyses.

Quantitative Analysis of Poly(ethylene terephthalate) Microplastics in Soil via Thermogravimetry-Mass Spectrometry.

Analytical Chemistry, 2018
The use of plastic materials in daily life, industry, and agriculture can cause soil pollution with plastic fragments down to the micrometer scale, i.e., microplastics. Quantitative assessment of microplastics in soil has been limited so far.

Quantitative Electron Spectroscopic Analysis of the Surface Chemistry of Bituminous Coal

Energy & Fuels, 1996
ESCA has been used to analyze coals from four seams : Illinois No. 6, Kentucky No. 9, Upper Freeport, and Pittsburgh. The coal was analyzed in raw, milled, and agglomerated forms. The coal was simultaneously analyzed for the effects of different storage conditions (air, water, or nitrogen gas atmosphere) over a 17 month period.

Combining Pulsed SILAC Labeling and Click-Chemistry for Quantitative Secretome Analysis

2014
Secreted proteins, such as cytokines, chemokines, and hormones, exhibit central functions in intercellular communication, which is crucial to maintain homeostasis in every multicellular organism. A common approach to identify secreted proteins is by proteomic analysis of culture media after conditioning with a cell type of interest.

Quantitative phosphoproteome analysis using a dendrimer conjugation chemistry and tandem mass spectrometry

Nature Methods, 2005
We present a robust and general method for the identification and relative quantification of phosphorylation sites in complex protein mixtures. It is based on a new chemical derivatization strategy using a dendrimer as a soluble polymer support and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS).

The ‘Mole Environment’ studyware: applying multidimensional analysis to quantitative chemistry problems

International Journal of Science Education, 1998
The mole, a fundamental concept in quantitative chemistry, poses understanding difficulties for many students. To tackle this problem we have developed a multidimensional problem analysis, classification and authoring method. We define three dimensions, each being a transformation from the symbol to the macro, micro and process understanding levels ...
