Quantitative Risk Assessment

Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 1980
This paper presents a brief survey of current methodology available for quantitative risk assessment of environmental carcinogens. Four current models for low-dose extrapolation are reviewed. Current problems and controversies and possible options in doing quantitative risk assessments based on chronic animal studies are discussed.

Quantitative assessment of interstitial implants

International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 1991
Quantitative assessment of interstitial implants is proposed using volume versus dose curves and four well-defined dosimetric parameters. The volume versus dose curves, both differential and cumulative, provide quantitative data on the volumes of tissues irradiated to different doses.

Quantitative Assessment of Glenohumeral Translation

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 2002
Cutaneous electromagnetic position sensors were used to quantify anteroposterior laxity of the shoulder. Forty-three female athletes were tested (27 were soccer players and 16 were swimmers). The athletes had a mean age of 18.8 years (range, 17-24 years), and all were free of shoulder disorders. Dominant and nondominant shoulders were tested.

Quantitative Assessment of DNA Condensation

Analytical Biochemistry, 1999
A fluorescent method is proposed for assessing DNA condensation in aqueous solutions with variety of condensing agents. The technique is based on the effect of concentration-dependent self-quenching of covalently bound fluorophores upon DNA collapse.

Quantitative assessment of villous motility

American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 1987
A videomicroscopic method was used to quantitatively analyze villous motility in the dog small intestine. The frequency and duration of villous contractions (retractions) were measured in the duodenum, midjejunum, and distal ileum under controlled conditions. A pronounced gradient of villous motility was evident along the bowel. The duodenum exhibited

Quantitative assessment of brain lesions

Physiology & Behavior, 1980
The availability of precisely measurable dependent variables such as neurochemical activity, homeostatic changes, and behavioral patterns calls for more precise methods of measuring the independent variables of brain lesion research. In this study a method of measuring volumes of internal brain lesions and estimating amounts of damage to specific ...

Assessing quantitatively a programming course

10th International Symposium on Software Metrics, 2004. Proceedings., 2004
The focus on assessment and measurement represents the main distinction between programming course and software engineering courses in computer curricula. We introduced testing as an essential asset of a programming course. It allows precise measurement of the achievements of the students and allows an objective assessment of the teaching itself.

Quantitative assessment of neuropathic pain

Current Pain and Headache Reports, 2001
Quantitative sensory testing (QST) refers to a group of protocols that allows for quantitative measures of somesthetic function. Several protocols evaluate perceptual threshold, whereas others evaluate perception of stimuli above threshold. Each protocol has its own advantages and disadvantages, but one must always weigh a trade-off between accuracy ...

Quantitative Assessment of the Chloroplast Lipidome

2018
In plants and algae, photosynthetic membranes have a unique lipid composition. They differ from all other cellular membranes by their very low amount of phospholipids, besides some phosphatidylglycerol (PG), and high proportion of glycolipids. These glycolipids are the uncharged galactolipids, that is, mono- and digalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG and ...
