Natural Dextran as an Efficient Interfacial Passivator for ZnO‐Based Electron‐Transport Layers in Inverted Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A natural dextran is introduced as an efficient interfacial modifier for the ZnO‐based electron transport layer (ETL) in inverted organic solar cells (OSCs). This modification effectively passivates defects in the ZnO layer and reduces interfacial charge carrier recombination, enabling the achievement of high efficiency, enhanced stability, and broad ...

Traps, Tail States and Their Consequences on the Open‐circuit Voltage in Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
It is found that the light‐intensity dependent low‐temperature roll‐off of open‐circuit voltage in organic solar cells is explained by the intrinsic disorder in these devices, which can be either described by the full Gaussian density of states or approximated by a two‐level system, which allows for a more intuitive interpretation.

Quantifying the Impact of Cathode Composite Mixing Quality on Active Mass Utilization and Reproducibility of Solid‐State Battery Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
The origin of variations in solid‐state battery cell performance is explored and traced back mainly to the cathode composite mixing – leading to different fractions of electrochemically active mass. Machine‐mixed composites and the quantification of the electrochemically active mass enhance reproducibility and comparability.
