Lorenz curves of urban and rural health care expenditure in Colombia: analysis of a cohort of 4.6 million patients

open access: yesHealth Economics Review
In Colombia, health expenditure is highly concentrated, with a small portion of the population incurring most costs, particularly in rural areas. Men show greater inequality than women.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Science, technology, and innovation in health for the next twenty years: A survey analysis in Colombia

open access: yesHealth Care Science
Background Colombia is a Latin American country with a very complex social and political context that has not allowed the allocation of sufficient resources to the fields of science, technology, and innovation (STI). This is particularly worrying for the

Quantitative Modeling of Biochemical Networks

open access: yesIn Silico Biology: Journal of Biological Systems Modeling and Multi-Scale Simulation, 1998
Today different database systems for molecular structures (genes and proteins) and metabolic pathways are available. All these systems are characterized by the static data representation. For progress in biotechnology the dynamic representation of this data is important. The metabolism can be characterized as a complex biochemical network.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Study on the concentration, distribution, and persistence of health spending for the contributory scheme in Colombia

open access: yesBMC Health Services Research
Colombia is among the countries with the most robust financial protection against personal health spending in the world, with out-of-pocket spending ranking lowest across OECD countries.

Analysing the Physical and Spatial Expansion Pattern of Margheh Using Quantatitive Models [PDF]

open access: yesنشریه جغرافیا و برنامه‌ریزی, 2013
The growth and development pattern or city form is defined as spatial pattern of human activities. At present the city pattern is divided into two groups as horizontal or sprawl and vertical or compact.

Quantitative Models in Marketing Research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Advances in data collection and data storage techniques have enabled marketing researchers to study the individual characteristics of a large range of transactions and purchases, in particular the effects of household-specific characteristics. This 2001 book presents important and practically relevant quantitative models for marketing research.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

A new tool to detect financial data scaling

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics
The assumption of frictionless markets has long been debated, drawing interest from scholars and practitioners alike. Market liquidity is a central theme in this regard; it is traditionally assessed through transaction costs, volume, price-based, and ...
