ISME—incoherent sampling of multi‐echo data to minimize cardiac‐induced noise in brain maps of R2*$$ {R}_2^{\ast } $$ and magnetic susceptibility

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 2, Page 897-911, February 2026.
Abstract Purpose Maps of the MRI parameters R2*$$ {\mathrm{R}}_2^{\ast } $$ and magnetic susceptibility (χ$$ \chi $$) enable the investigation of microscopic tissue changes in brain disease. However, cardiac‐induced signal instabilities increase the variability of brain maps of R2*$$ {\mathrm{R}}_2^{\ast } $$ and χ$$ \chi $$.

Nonlinear Dipole Inversion (NDI) enables Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) without parameter tuning

open access: yes, 2019
We propose Nonlinear Dipole Inversion (NDI) for high-quality Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) without regularization tuning, while matching the image quality of state-of-the-art reconstruction techniques. In addition to avoiding over-smoothing that these techniques often suffer from, we also obviate the need for parameter selection.

Relationship between tau-PET and quantitative susceptibility mapping in atypical Alzheimer’s disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience
BackgroundIron is an important component in neurofibrillary tangles, is known to co-localize with tangles in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and can be measured using quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM).

Ultrashort Echo Time Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (UTE-QSM) of Highly Concentrated Magnetic Nanoparticles: A Comparison Study about Different Sampling Strategies

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
The ability to accurately and non-invasively quantify highly concentrated magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) is desirable for many emerging applications. Ultrashort echo time quantitative susceptibility mapping (UTE-QSM) has demonstrated the capability to ...

Application of Laplacian-based Methods to Multi-echo Phase Data for Accurate Susceptibility Mapping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In Susceptibility Mapping (SM) using multi-echo gradient-echo phase data, unwrapping and/or background-Òeld removal is often performed using Laplacian-based methods.
