Xylem features detrending methods matter: A case study on earlywood vessels of Fraxinus mandshurica

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2021
Xylem anatomy can provide valuable information about tree allometry and ecophysiological performance. It has unique advantages in the study of global climate change and forest adaptation compared to traditional ring-width or density proxy parameters ...

Exploring monsoon precipitation signal in the Peruvian tropical montane cloud forest: Andean Walnut wood anatomy plasticity

open access: yesIAWA Journal, 2023
Andean Walnut (Juglans neotropica Diels-Juglandaceae) is a long-lived, deciduous broadleaf Tropical Montane Cloud Forest (TMCF) tree species native to the Andes Cordillera; nevertheless, it has received limited attention for dendro-quantitative wood ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Wood anatomy of Salix x rubens Schrank used for basketry in Brazil

open access: yesHoehnea
In Southern Brazil, in the Plateau of the State of Santa Catarina, species of Salix (willow), vernacularly called "vime", are cultivated for weaving crafts. The hybrid Salix x rubens Schrank (Salicaeae) is the widely cultivated species in the region. The
