Quantum annealing and computation

open access: yes
We introduce and review briefly the phenomenon of quantum annealing and analog computation. The role of quantum fluctuation (tunneling) in random systems with rugged (free) energy landscapes having macroscopic barriers are discussed to demonstrate the quantum advantage in the search for the ground state(s) through annealing.

Modulating Iridium Electronic Structure With High‐Valent Metal Doping for Efficient and Durable Acidic Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We synthesized a novel IrCuOx/MnO2 heterostructure co‐doped with high‐valent W and Mo atoms, achieving exceptional acidic stability and high mass activity. Owing to the synergistic effects of structural and electronic modulation, cooperative charge redistribution occurs across both the interface and the lattice.

Quantum Algorithms for Simulated Annealing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper summarizes a quantum algorithm of [R.D. Somma, et.al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 101, 130504 (2008)] that simulates a classical annealing process for solving discrete optimization problems. The complexity of the quantum algorithm scales with the inverse square root of the spectral gap of an associated stochastic matrix.

In‐Situ Solution Complexation for n‐Type Surface‐Energetics Reconstruction in 2.0 eV Ultra‐Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A reactive in situ solution complexation strategy reconstructs the surface of 2.0 eV ultra‐wide‐bandgap perovskites via proton transfer. This chemical modulation eliminates metallic defects and induces a degenerate‐like n‐type surface, establishing an Ohmic tunneling contact.

Establishing a Model Precursor System: Over a Decade of Research on Carbon Dots from the Citric Acid‐Urea System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The citric acid/urea (CA‐Urea) precursor system offers a versatile, scalable route to carbon dots with tunable luminescence and multifunctionality. Mechanistic insights into precursor chemistry and reaction parameters have enabled doping, surface modification, and hybridization strategies, yielding CDs for luminescent devices, sensing, catalysis ...

Efficiency optimization in quantum computing: balancing thermodynamics and computational performance

open access: yesScientific Reports
We investigate the computational efficiency and thermodynamic cost of the D-Wave quantum annealer under reverse-annealing with and without pausing. Our demonstration on the D-Wave 2000Q annealer shows that the combination of reverse-annealing and pausing

Emission characteristics variation of GaAs0.92Sb0.08/Al0.3Ga0.7As strained multiple quantum wells caused by rapid thermal annealing

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Rapid thermal annealing is an effective way to improve the optical properties of semiconductor materials and devices. In this paper, the emission characteristics of GaAs0.92Sb0.08/Al0.3Ga0.7As multiple quantum wells, which investigated by temperature ...

Simulated Quantum Annealing with Two All-to-All Connectivity Schemes

open access: yes, 2016
Quantum annealing aims to exploit quantum mechanics to speed up the search for the solution to optimization problems. Most problems exhibit complete connectivity between the logical spin variables after they are mapped to the Ising spin Hamiltonian of ...

Interfacial Modulation for High‐Efficiency Large‐Area Organic Photovoltaics and Perovskite‐Organic Tandem Solar Modules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) are promising hole‐transporting materials for organic photovoltaics (OPVs), but suffer from self‐aggregation and poor large‐area uniformity. We find that interfacial modification using nicotinic hydrazide can eliminate the residual SAM aggregates by forming energetically favorable complexes, yielding uniform SAM.

Quantum annealing using vacuum states as effective excited states of driven systems

open access: yesCommunications Physics, 2020
For hard Quantum Annealing problems, starting from the ground state might result into high failure probability due to nonadiabatic transitions where the quantum system leaves the ground state.
