Coherence requirements for quantum communication from hybrid circuit dynamics
The coherent superposition of quantum states is an important resource for quantum information processing which distinguishes quantum dynamics and information from their classical counterparts.

Single-cycle surface plasmon polaritons on a bare metal wire excited by relativistic electrons
Here, the authors demonstrate how ultra-short bunches of relativistic electrons produce coherent transition radiation at the tip of a thin wire. The radiation then propagates as a powerful surface plasmon polariton along the wire, illustrating the ...

Quantum coherence and quantum phase transitions [PDF]
AbstractWe study the connections between local quantum coherence (LQC) based on Wigner-Yanase skew information and quantum phase transitions (QPTs). When applied on the one-dimensional Hubbard, XY spin chain with three-spin interaction and Su-Schrieffer-Heeger models, the LQC and its derivatives are used successfully to detect different types of QPTs ...

Coherent superconducting quantum pump [PDF]
We demonstrate non-adiabatic charge pumping utilizing a sequence of coherent oscillations between a superconducting island and two reservoirs. Our method, based on pulsed quantum state manipulations, allows to speedup charge pumping to a rate which is limited by the coupling between the island and the reservoirs given by the Josephson energy.

Thermally-induced qubit coherence in quantum electromechanics
Quantum coherence, the ability of a quantum system to be in a superposition of orthogonal quantum states, is a distinct feature of the quantum mechanics, thus marking a deviation from classical physics. Coherence finds its applications in quantum sensing

Coherent quantum phase slip [PDF]
A hundred years after discovery of superconductivity, one fundamental prediction of the theory, the coherent quantum phase slip (CQPS), has not been observed. CQPS is a phenomenon exactly dual to the Josephson effect: whilst the latter is a coherent transfer of charges between superconducting contacts, the former is a coherent transfer of vortices or ...

Time-of-flight electron energy loss spectroscopy using TM110 deflection cavities
We demonstrate the use of two TM110 resonant cavities to generate ultrashort electron pulses and subsequently measure electron energy losses in a time-of-flight type of setup.

Can two quantum Cheshire cats exchange grins?
A common-sense perception of a physical system is that it is inseparable from its physical properties. The notion of quantum Cheshire cat challenges this, as far as quantum systems are concerned.
